I was going to make a more general video about AR, but I got REAL cranky about Apple... https://youtu.be/-p2GS0f1aZY

YEARS of hype, and Vision Pro is basically an expensive dev kit...

I'd just like to reiterate from my video, we ALL KNOW that if Microsoft had hosted CLOSED DOOR limited demos like this for HoloLens, they would rightfully have been savaged by the tech press. https://businessinsider.com/apple-vision-pro-early-hands-on-reviews-2023-6
Also. HoloLens was 7 years ago, and had more AR functionality.

Reading through some of these "criticisms" just highlights how lopsided Apple coverage really is in the tech press.

A comment like:
"It's a little heavy and gave me nausea."

about the Vision Pro, would be written up like this:

"This is a half baked attempt at fleecing consumers, with a sickness inducing contraption. You'll have to add the cost of visiting a chiropractor into this EYE WATERING price tag!"

if ANY other company had made this headset at this price.

Fungi455,

@SomeGadgetGuy the irony is that a chiropractor isn't even for nausea. Some things a chiropractor can help with can cause nausea, but not a VR headset. Maybe neck pain the chiropractor could help with. Not VR caused nausea though.

@Fungi455 Oh the chiropractor bit is about how heavy the metal and glass build is.
We saw that with headphones.

"Ugh this plastic is 'cheap', but metal headphones are too heavy!"

Then Apple.

"WOW These APPLE headphones feel SO PREMIUM!"

Fungi455,

@SomeGadgetGuy any bets on how long it's going to be before we see people with absolutely jacked neck muscles thanks to the weight of the reality pro.

@Fungi455 HA! When Apple Fans become the most hard core head bangers...

Fungi455,

@SomeGadgetGuy oh man... And the metalheads. If the built in speakers sound as good as apple claims, gyms are going to have to buy neck workout equipment to prep people for wearing reality pro, and chiropractors will need a dedicated neck strain division. All jokes but so funny.

miyagrace,

@SomeGadgetGuy this is so true. They were praising it as some amazing life changing thing with no more information than "leak says apple might make a headset" and "probably will cost $3000+".

Same outlets running non-stop "VR/AR is dead" articles for 3 years.

SomeGadgetGuy,

@miyagrace It's so tired. Severely disappointing to see how that machine basically only exists to mis-educate consumers.
