@KeithDJohnson came to this by by chance, searching #Sponge cities. Just wanted to add: many protesters do all those “real” actions too. I know some XR scientists (the ones who glue themselves onto buildings) - they are all tree planters, wildlife restorers, permaculturists, Green part members, Vegans, working with schools, councils, scientists, wtc etc. They do protests on top of all this, because they are trying everything and want to trigger wider change. They think a LOT about all this.
