I'm not sure if this Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea, 🇩🇪 Graureiher, 🇵🇱 czapla siwa) was yawning or what, but #birds do yawn.

I stopped by today the muddy pool at which I saw a Curlew four days ago, just to see this. White-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla, 🇩🇪 Seeadler, 🇵🇱 bielik). This must be some exceptional muddy pool. I need to visit it more often.

Bee-eaters (Merops apiaster, 🇩🇪 Bienenfresser, 🇵🇱 żołna) literally feed on bees and other stinging insects, such as wasps or hornets. To avoid being stung, they remove the sting from the insect they catch by smashing it against a tree while holding it in their beak.

@jake4480 They do that a lot, even with dragonflies. I wish I had a masking gear with me today so I could get closer and film them without disturbing them. Bee-eaters are very shy and cautious. They are able to follow not only your movements but also your eyes (birds have excellent vision, far superior to humans).

The Savi's Warbler (Locustella luscinioides, 🇩🇪 Rohrschwirl, 🇵🇱 brzęczka) is known for its monotonous, cicada-like reeling song, from which it gets its Latin genus name - Locustella. It is a diminutive of "locusta" - grasshopper.
