I clicked on a video on YouTube (about the mental health of men), and now I'm being fed Andrew Tate and Jordan Petersen videos.

Like, c'mon.

That's no good. That's not only unhelpful, but going in the wrong direction.

At this stage, 𝑰 might need to make a YouTube account just to give a better nudge to the algorithm. I'm not mental health expert, but, jeeze, there's gotta be something better than 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔.

• I remember when my candidate's mother was yelled at while knocking on doors with a tirade of epic, vicious proportions (I still don't look at Rideau-Roxboro the same after that episode).
• Last election, volunteers in my neighbourhood for the candidate I preferred were physically attacked.
• I've been threatened with firearms.
• And phone calls into the office...

I remain shocked that my 10 year old netbook is performing excellently as a home server.

#Linux saved it from the e-waste bin.

And I can watch my '80s era anime.

• Built-in UPS (the battery), and comes with screen/keyboard.
• Binded an external 4TB hard drive.
• Jellyfin works wonderfully, with zero issues.

• Currently... trying to research how to create an unraid storage solution for my video editing work. Kinda stumped.

Some of my favourite conversations as of late have been, "So, what did you do during the pandemic?"

Putting aside the issue that the pandemic isn't quite over yet (... there are roughly ~1,000 people in my province currently in the hospital contending with the virus), I have had some conversation starters that I've sprinkled into the mix. It makes for great small talk.

I don't think there's a single person who can unite that group of politicians.

And there are so many problems afoot that require some degree of unity (government shutdowns, healthcare and investment in infrastructure).

I adore riding the light rail in my city.

I loathe traffic, and it makes me angry to sit in a metal box waiting for the light to change. Such a situation makes me contemplate capitalism and the missteps that took me to sitting in a depreciating asset, burning a limited resource and spending $4,000+ a year for insurance that only does something for me if there's an accident or damage.

Downstairs neighbour update.

• I've added foam pads to all pieces of furniture in my apartment.
• Put down a carpet beside my bed.
• Anything that rolls in my apartment, I've swapped out the basic castors for high grade roller blade castors -- making my desk chair silent!

Not one complaint since this system was implemented (3 months and counting).

It's about withdrawing from the Canadian Pension Plan.

I dunno man.

It might just be me, but I don't want to defund the pensions of my fellow Canadians. There are seniors that count on this monthly stipend to survive.

So every 3 months I redo my resume. I've been doing it for close to 15 years (I have copies of my resumes from high school).

And, well...

I just realized my resume hadn't landed me a single job.

Ever.

Papa John's? Paper form. Working for politicians? Referral. Non-profits? Referral. Current gig? I was recruited!

Do... do resumes work? Like, I've been giving advice to folks on careers (once in a while), but, well, do resumes actually get folks jobs? #Careers #Resumes

I even made a spreadsheet. It has sparkline bar graphs that are colour-coded as the hours tick by.

I just enter in my quit date and time, and it kicks back timing, money saved, days nicotine free and a little progress bar for each step.

I can report back that... it does not ease the cravings.
