@cliffwade quick question about Nova. Am I correctly seeing that if you use swipe up/down and double tap gestures, you can't really use double tap + swipe up/down gestures? Thanks.

My on install* turns 10 years old this year.

  • It was migrated from ownCloud to Nextcloud and both Nextcloud and the OS have been kept regularly upgraded to supported versions throughout that time.

@vwbusguy oh nice. That was the right move. They recently got acquired by Kiteworks, and now Kiteworks offers a deal to switch to them ๐Ÿ˜‚ saying users will get enhanced security by switching from ownCloud. They don't even believe what they bought is secure. I also recently learned their new OCIS version has EULA, making it source-available not open source ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

@vwbusguy That's good to hear. A lot of people were asking on social media if ownCloud vulnerabilities affected Nextcloud. It sounds like you're using Nextcloud at work? File sharing or full collaboration suite?

@vwbusguy Makes sense. Is it free community edition you're running at work?

You said "no one has bandwidth to try to learn an alternative" - is there anything Nextcloud can do to make this easier? UI changes, educational resources, etc.

My sole purpose at Nextcloud is to increase adoption in North America, so I'm all ears for any feedback ๐Ÿ™‚

@vwbusguy Thanks for the valuable feedback! I appreciate it. Box was a little short on revenue last year, missing expectations. Wouldn't be surprised if they increased the price to make up.

I'm curious, where do you host stuff at work? AWS, Google, another cloud provider, or local data center?

I'm on holiday in Australia and I made nearly 400 contributions to #OpenStreetMap using the app @streetcomplete

It takes almost no time to contribute, it's really easy and it's immensely helpful in countries other than central Europe where the map is still fairly incomplete. Please, help out!

I really like how ease they are, at least for me, for the following projects:

They all just work. And are easy to perform. Thanks to those projects and everyone involved.

They enable users to self run and use software.

Every 6 months or so, I ask for examples of #OpenSource projects with great #UX design. Products like @Figma @taiga @elementary and Audacity are just a few that come to mind.

I'm particularly interested in small to mid size projects with great #UXDesign. (as that's harder to pull off) Anything people can suggest?
