I'm up and moving around early this morning because I have a doctor's appointment. Nothing special, just a routine checkup. I have a bit of white coat syndrome, it's something relatively new developed in the last 30 years. I fully realize that it is irrational, but still my blood pressure tends to go up at the doctor's office. Maybe it's because it is the doctors who deliver bad health news, to be fair, they also deliver good news. But it is bad news that causes anxiety, isn't it? If you've ever heard the "C" word during a visit, you know of what I speak.

@Swede1952 I know the feeling well. It's not so much "bad news" but "gaslighting". I often get the feeling I'm not being heard, or my input is being dismissed. (Oh, I guess you know your body. Why, yes, I do.) It gets "interesting" when you realize that your doctor is not on the same page as you.

@grammargirl Considering my age (hint: my baby pictures were cave paintings) and health I just got a Pfizer booster. I didn't even feel the shot, and 2 hours later, my arm isn't any achier than it usually is. I felt a little "icky" for about an hour, but I'm over it.

I live in a small town, and COVID is popping up here.

    Need to point this out.

    As a murderer stabbed a Muslim woman named Dr. Talat Khan to death, witnesses report that 17 Texans pulled out their firearms. 17! The murderer stabbed her, stopped to check her pulse, confirmed she was alive, & went back to stabbing her to death.

    And 17 "good guys with guns" did nothing.

    A reminder that the "good guy with a gun" myth is a propaganda point to sell more guns. It does nothing beyond an anecdote to save lives.

    @leyrer I agree, and especially in Manhattan, a massively overdeveloped island with failing infrastructure. "It's all about the address!" Vehicles are not the problem. Over-density is. I could walk to work (6 miles) faster than the ancient subways.

    @Frances_Larina @leyrer It was a local train, with above and below ground tracks, with many stops. Because rush hour coincided with school hours there were delays. By motorcycle/car I could do the trip in 30 minutes most times. Not fast.

    @DeanObeidallah Wadea is, if anything, an American Muslim. He still is. An American child of the Muslim faith was murdered by a domestic terrorist.

    Far too many American children are being senselessly killed while (some) people hide behind "pro-life" bumper stickers.

    I have met so many people of the Muslim faith. Good people, all of them.
