I love that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds continues the ST conceit that people are required to pilot starships. And they double down on this when in complex situation where it seems more likely that a computer could navigate more safely and precisely. We accept it because it creates good drama, not because it makes sense.

It is hard to adequately express how far we've come with 3D printing. The idea of doing this even just a 2 or 3 years ago...
This is a fully 3D printed phaser, no paint whatsoever. Just printed and glued together. The blue isn't a perfect match and there are some imperfections, but still look how shiny it is. Also, this was NOT EVEN at the finest setting.

I have complicated feelings about The Creator. It may take me a while to express those feelings and thoughts.

Short version: It's good sci-fi and it pays deep homage to some of the greats in that genre (Alien, Aliens, Blade Runner (both), 2001, District 9, Rogue One). The production design is breathtaking, also paying homage to Neill Blomkamp, Gavin Rothery, Dou Chiang, Dennis Gassner, and others.
