So, is there a patterned fabric you can use to make a shirt that is anti-optimized for modern video stream compression, such that your meetings totally bog down for all participants because everyone’s client-side code is working so hard to encode/decode the wildly demanding images of your shirt every time you shift slightly in your seat?

@kfogel Depends a bit on the encoding but a very tiny high contrast black and white stripe fabric is absolute havoc on every video format I've ever had the displeasure of editing! Bonus points if the seams are done in a way that creates chevron effects.

@kfogel @Natalie Pretty sure it would be absolutely terrible for image compression at the very least if you overlaid a sheer black mesh on a very very loud black and white stripe, and then had that alongside the tiny pinstripe...
Also a very deep teal or turquoise and hot pink tend to fuck with automatic white balance, so if you could slide some of that on there...

Remember how I was batch making a lot of lingerie? And ordered a cool 18 metres of the nice elastic, the best elastic among a sea of lesser ones, from this one shop I needed absolutely nothing else from? And how I was also waiting for some nice pink thread instead of lesser thread from another shop?

Well! Turns out I ordered Bright Pink instead of the Old Rose I wanted. 🙃 I have so much of it I'm gonna use it anyway but will likely be mildly annoyed until the end of time! Heck!

My new glasses and some very very fast living room portraiture!

Those of you who have seen photos of me with the old glasses will note that the new ones look almost exactly the same. 😄
The new round ones are quite delightful and very different from what I've ever worn!

It is I, the #OutsideGirl, and today I have picked up my new glasses.

These ones are the kind where they go dark in the sunlight and are clear indoors, which was very handy on this very hot and sunny day. There's another pair too, I need to properly photograph them, not just quick selfie.
Everything is also green now, it sure wasn't a week or two ago!

A photo from farther away, of Sini standing in front of a very green and lush bit of vegetation, a tree, bushes, grass and assorted native plants all tangled together. In addition to the previous photo, here a long black skirt can be seen, a little black shoulder bag, and gloves held in one hand.

Slept like ass, feel terrible, everything hurts. The Finnish nightless nights or whatever it's called is wild because while the sun theoretically drops below the horizon it doesn't actually get dark at all! What an entirely normal thing to live with!

The reverse is also true. In the winter, instead of missing the three hour window of slightly more dark to fall asleep in, you're trying to hit the brief window of there being sunlight at all! A normal country!

The finished Cat Quilt! Mom likes it and was also very taken with the little tote I made her. "I'm going to take it to yoga, they're going to think it's so cute."
Her comment after laying it out to take these photos was that it's huge! Yes, mum, that's why it took me about three times as long as I thought it would. 😆
But it's done and where it belongs now!

Side view of the same, to show the edge that slopes off the bed edge. There are satisfyingly meeting corners and a bit of whimsical staggering of the blocks. There is dark blue sashing that ties it all together like frames in an album.

Oh, I super forgot to take photos of the rest of them, but each of the bigger cat blocks I top stitched following the sort of "language" used in the images. This one got triangular shapes, the siamese looking one got curved long lines, the black cat got diagonal lines and the Rownd cat I just fully went around in a spiral!

I finished and ironed the Cat Quilt several days ago but cannot bring myself to try to take photos of it. But! I just made a little cat bag to put the quilt in for transit to my mom, from leftovers. I assume she can use it for shopping etc. if she so desires.
Just a basic fabric bag, I tried to be clever with the patch pocket placement for easy reach!

Close up of the nicely finished handle. The opening of the bag has been faced with a pieced together strip of light beige fabric, the handle has had its raw end encased under it. The handle has then been flipped over and stitched down.
A close up shot of the edge of one of the patch pockets. The top stitching going in two rows is quite neat and satisfying. It has reinforcement to hopefully make it pretty durable. The cartoon cats in the light fabric are in yellow, blue, turquoise and brown. They're rather cute. The big cat image is very stylish.

I also made this dress I never wore into a skirt I might sometimes wear. And from a loosely fitting skirt to a snugly fitting wrap skirt, too!
The hem is asymmetrical, voluminous and has square handkerchief edges and weird bits that give it lots of movement.
Here, a clip it's too dark to see much of!

A short clip of Sini doing a spin while wearing a black and white loose sleeveless blouse and an absurdly wide hemmed and voluminous black skirt. During the spin it flares out enough to touch the furniture of the room she's in, and after the spin she lifts the hem up and wraps it around herself like a shawl, revealing a brown skirt beneath. It has roughly the volume of a full circle skirt and then some. She does a series of little hops, going on another revolution, giving a fey little smile.

This post brought to you by me seeing makeup on a dude I don't usually see it on, and he looks AMAZING. And honestly even if you never wanted to go for eyeliner or anything, a nice tinted moisturiser or under eye concealer is kind of amazing.
My eyes prohibit the use of eyeshadow or mascara these days, and I'm too lazy to put on anything most days, but you can pry under eye concealer out of my cold dead hands. 😶

@MsHearthWitch Oh, I used to keep up to date on stuff but now know absolutely nothing about current products! I mostly go for weird expensive hippie brands, which are not affordable if you actually use a lot of them!
The selection is probably different everywhere, and the best way to find one that suits is to go and put some of a tester on your actual (inside of forearm) skin so regrettably I cannot be of much help. 😅

I have washed, shortened and put up four curtains, vacuumed, cleaned a window and tidied up a bunch of random shit. I feel like I deserve a treat but am not in possession of any and cannot justify the purchase of some pretty plates and bowls just because I want a treat! Fuck!

Oh! Just remembered the dream I had.

Great strides had been made in perfecting plastic, oil and toxic waste recycling. A machine had been created! All you had to do was input whatever into a large hopper, no sorting required. Solids, liquids. The end product out the other end was stable carbon, water and trace amounts of minerals. That is to say: Turtles. Just hordes and hordes of turtles, alive and well, in every species, hurtling out of a hopper! 🐢

Environmental experts felt conflicted.

On one hand, you could now fairly safely get rid of extremely dangerous compounds and toxic waste, remove fuck-tonnes of plastic out of the environment, trash could be a thing of the past! Nuclear energy would be cleaner!
But on the other hand, you'd either end up with an apocalyptic amount of possibly invasive turtles everywhere or would have to live with the ethics of engaging just in a whole lot of turtle capture and eating, which animal advocates were pretty upset about.

Imagine: A nervous but giddy and proud team of scientists and engineers in white coats, overalls and with the core team having the Expert Habitus of being absolutely wrecked on little sleep and personal care, standing there about to present their invention. They stuff bales and bales of plastic, cardboard and a container of used cooking oil into this big machine. There is a slight churning noise.
And then a swarm of colourful turtles crawling out! Silence. First stunned, then thoughtful.
