Way back in my dim & distant youth, the computers I knew & used were Acorn A3000s. These came bundled with a vector drawing software package called "Draw".
Is it possible to get a version of this software which runs on Windows 10/11? (I can learn to use an emulator if need be).
Please note! I'm not asking for vector graphics software recs. I've used many different things over the last 25 years & none of them are as easy & intuitive as Draw.
Currently running on approximately 8 hours sleep out of the last 4 nights and while I have more urgent and important things to try and think of I am currently stuck on what songs might soundtrack dragon erotica.
Folks who prefer to drive are often highly resistant to lower speed limits, skeptical about why low speeds are so important. The reason is simple: speed kills pedestrians and cyclists. This has been known for decades. From Global Road Safety Partnership:
“The human tolerance to injury by a car will be exceeded if the vehicle is travelling at more than 30 km/h. Pedestrians, as illustrated above, incur a risk of about 80% of being killed at a collision speed of 50 km/h.”
@uxmark here in Wales the default speed limit in residential areas was recently decreased from 30mph (same as rest of UK) to 20mph.
Lots of resistance from vocal minorities who don't like change, but it's so much nicer to drive through residential areas now. I hope it's nicer to walk as well!
I'm gonna go to the beginner fencing class tonight as novel research. I'm nervous—about the class and about missing my toddler's bedtime—and kinda wanna weasel out, so I'm posting about it to be held accountable.
Had a form from my GP to update my details. One of the fields to complete was "Weight", but since they hadn't set the field type to restrict it to numbers or a limited character length, I gave the most honest answer I could:
"No idea. A bit more than I'd like, but not worryingly so."
Hopefully it'll give someone a laugh when they see it...

What's the most satisfying relationship (not necessarily romantic) you've ever written?
Two come to mind.
From my fanfic days: Sparrington. So much snark, so much hidden vulnerability, so much longing & deeply visceral connection they both fought against. And I learned a lot about writing through that community.
Original fic: Teddy & Sylvia from Under Leaden Skies, building a relationship on fragile foundations whilst living through a war. Surviving against the odds.

What convictions or values guide your characters' decisions?
All my MCs would like the society they live in to be fairer & more equal in terms of justice & wealth distribution (yes, even the one who's a duke wants this!) though I'm not sure if any of them are radical enough to think about getting rid of the class structure & abolishing inherited wealth. Their actions are mostly on a smaller, more personal scale.

Do you support other writers? How?
I try to? Am pretty much always up for discussing character or plot issues etc., I'll happily discuss & recommend books anytime someone reveals an interest, & of course I buy & read books.

Did you realise what writing would be like when you started?
I'm one of those tiresome people who've been writing stories ever since a teacher first told me to write about what is happening in a picture. So no, I didn't realise aged 5 how it would be as an adult!
My knowledge & understanding of the craft has grown with me. I think the one thing I didn't anticipate was how much a dayjob would drain my energy & work against my writing.
Btw, I can still remember that picture, nearly 40 years later. Maybe one day I'll write a story based on it that's more than one sentence long!
(It wasn't really a story that I wrote. I interpreted the task very literally, but I would pin that down as the first inkling I had of wanting to make up & write down stories as I seem to recall being told off for taking ages to write anything down while I was thinking about the picture!) #WordWeavers Jan 11th
#introduction
like most people I've popped over from the bird site to see whats the crack.
I'm a #steampunk, I #crochet so expect pics of my weird and wonderful creations such as this crocheted autopsied mouse (you can buy them, I make to order).
I post whats on my mind, 90% crap involving #food, #pets, #telly and random #polls, the other 10% maybe witty or inspiring (but don't hold me to that).
