Prime Video costs money. Am I the customer or the product here?

@Quinnypig He's talking like his customers were really excited for ads on Amazing Prime Video. Are the customers he's talking about the ad companies? Certainly not the users watching videos.

@kev I read about this feature the other day. What could be done to mitigate this effect? Maybe sharing link previews with other servers rather than having them generated each time, but I couldn't say how much work that would entail - or how long it would take to get the other Fediverse servers to implement that kind of change.

    Finding the Local Page of a Post

    Wow this is great! Learned something tonight.

    One of the biggest headaches with Mastodon is that references to posts need to link to the "Original Page", for instance: https://mastodon.social/@coreyspowell/111337469741810244. But what you really want is your "Local Page" so you can reply to the post. Just copy and paste the "Original Page" address into your the # Explore search box, and click "Open URL in Mastodon".

    Try it!

    Not perfect, but a big improvement!

    there's a qualitative difference between being honourable and being dignified.

    honour is something craftsmen, athletes and warriors have and it's about heart and strength. dignity is more of a merchant, lawyer or politician thing and it's about brains and consistency.

    honour is about passion, justice and truth. dignity is about will, law and facts.

    i'm more of an honour guy myself.

    Dear businesses do not use Discord as a support method if a product is being sold to a business. We are currently having to figure out a risk exception for allowing Discord and here’s the problem. Discord is poorly architected and we have to allow about 5 domains to make it work and we can’t limit it to just one workspace like Slack allows us.
    Discord is not a product for business, use Email, Teams, Slack, and Matrix!
