Slack kept kicking me out of huddles while I was speaking because my computer screen would go into screensaver mode too quickly. Annoying! Found the setting that controls this in Slack:

@simon I can't create a link right now from ChatGPT for some reason, but I was trying to get ChatGPT to help me lay out a gallery wall yesterday, and it could. not. do. it. without putting a fireplace in the dining room. It was frustratingly hysterical and made me think of you.

@simon There is this gem, where it informed me that there was no fireplace there?

It was like once it had rendered me an image that included a fireplace, it was totally unable to see it and do anything about it.

2015 PyCon US — Attended, met @klove met @webology and started volunteering for @djangocon.

By the end of that year I’d given my first 2 talks and was an official DCUS organizer. My first conference talk was at Django Birthday (HOW was an event to celebrate Django my speaking debut? That’s nuts in retrospect!), where I met @frank and I remember thinking, “I’d love to someday be good enough at this to work for REVSYS. They are such awesome people.”

In 2017 Frank offered me a job!

@jonafato Same conference, I wound up teaching Django online with @klove, organizing Django Girls workshops, which led to a brief stint on their support team.

Also, in 2022 at DCUS, I got to have my kiddo’s stuffy take a picture with @glasnt’s stuffy, which is incredible and can’t be topped.

@jonafato And then there are the intangibles. The friends I’ve made that I wouldn’t have otherwise made. The subsequent conferences I attended or organized or spoke at. The connections I helped other people make. The old friendships unexpectedly reignited (hi @drewbrew!). The extra worry I feel when global events happen because so-and-so lives or is from there. The education I’ve received and the amazing dessert I got to try because I said yes to a dinner invitation.

I’m watching “Dangerous Beauty” and it’s one of those movies my fifteen-year-old self ADORES and can hear no criticism of and also the accents make NO sense.

@wsvincent It's for an ecommerce site where they will want to be able to put special notes or announcements, etc. onto their products or categories. We're not using full Wagtail for the products/categories/etc. so hopefully django-streamfield will give them the flexibility to add the messages, images, whatever else they need to on the fly. Haven't gotten very far with it yet!

Has anyone used django-streamfield? It's working great but I am trying to write a test and I keep getting something like:

AttributeError: 'list' object has no attribute 'add'

when I try to add the streamfield block to the streamfield field in the test. My syntax is the same as the docs: https://github.com/raagin/django-streamfield/blob/master/README.md#add-block-programarly

@FunkyBob That was it! I wound up having to call obj.refresh_from_db() on my fixture in my test as the very first line. Then it all worked smoothly. Thanks!
