@Mojeek I would love to see the looks on the faces of all those who decided to argue with me when I told them their favourite search engine was just a Bing clone!
Or that chap who said that Duck Duck Go was a meta-search. When I asked him what sources other than Bing it searched … he fell silent!

@juandesant I imagine they keep !g and the popular ones up to date. We actually have a !lucire bang for ourselves and this was directed to an internal search we had. When that stopped, we said DDG could redirect this to themselves with a source:lucire.com link. Instantly changed. However, when Bing tanked in 2022, I wanted out, and DDG refused to update our bang to link to @Mojeek. Guess they were too scared that that would show how bad Bing had become, and they weren’t about to promote Mojeek!

@rysiek @drq I live in Wellington, so I used to see people from the Wētā crews (Workshop and Digital) regularly. Sir Richard Taylor told me this directly. He said Wētā Digital was in bad shape and on the verge of closing down. Then they got the Contact gig, and the money from that saved the company. Not long after, The Lord of the Rings came about.
