absolutely INSANE. how many scientists does it take to realize we already have the solution??? we’ve always had the solution! stop fucking eating cows and stealing their milk. the solution is not to take years of research to make one of the most damaging, exploitive, unnecessary industries on earth slightly less destructive so it can keep chugging along.

@ivy@inquiline As a flexitarian-vegetarian I am mostly on board with this, except for the fact that I've had many friends who were strictly vegan for long periods of time (~10 years) experiencing health issues along the way that cleared up when they integrated animal protein into their diets. I recognize this is anecdotal, but also have to recognize how human nutrition and response to allergens is widely varied. For instance, my partner is very allergic to soy, making pure veganism challenging.
@inquiline Totally the spirit in which I took it. I hope my response was measured. Just like one can be an industrialized processed food vegan (Hormel Vegetarian Chili & Impossible Burgers) or a locavore, whole food vegan, being a carnivore doesn't mean you have to be ignorant of the consequences of industrialized animal protein. But no doubt the politics of saying it's a "personal choice" obscures consideration of those consequences. I completely agree these are political choices.
COVID is a zoonotic disease caused by eating animals. if we want to support #disabled and #immunocompromised folks, going #vegan is one of the single best things we can do to avoid a future #pandemic.

i covered the vegan myths i've personally heard the most with a focus on #intersectionality. many of the myths have been echoed in #leftist and #anarchist spaces specifically.
i'm not at all a health vegan so more sources for that section would be appreciated!
