This is weird, I am pretty sure that previously I blocked the entire threads . net domain from the web interface of Mastodon months ago, but was able to open and browse through one of its profiles just a few hours ago on mobile (fedilab). Is this how domain-blocking behavior is supposed to work - they can't see you but you can see them?

I’m an AI skeptic (you should be too) but the new AI generated image description feature of Ice Cubes (Mastodon App) is surprisingly good. Here are four images I shot of some random things that have AI generated descriptions that I didn’t modify. Some missing details might be in a post that accompanies the image and be OK with the additional context. Did it hit the mark?

As always, if you use it you must always check and correct as needed. Never use without verification.

@Decentralize I suppose he prefers not to be associated strictly to one currency / set of privacy protective technologies. He's, as far as I know, supportive of all (really) decentralized cryptos, and I've seen him mention that he supports XMR, Zcash & Bitcoin.

The import file relies on the List import feature recently added to Mastodon. I have noticed the list import results in a few accounts sometimes ending up in their separate list by the same name so you may have to fix that manually afterwards if this happens on your instance. If many people are on an older Mastodon version and want it I can also post a follows file that will work for those.

Import instructions:

  1. Sign into your instance on the web
  2. go to settings (Gear icon)
  3. Choose Import and Export -> Import
  4. For import type choose "Lists" (could also be "Translation missing: en.imports.types.lists" if there is an issue with the localization).
  5. Select "merge" to only add to your current follows/lists so nothing you have gets deleted
  6. Browse for CSV file and start import

I would also suggest following the hashtags #Ukraine and #UkraineWar

Are those accounts globally neutral ones (focused on trying to double check the data they receive before echoing them), or do some of them tend to support NATO or Russia? If so, it could be useful to precise it (through a mention in parenthesis, for instance).

One of Mastodon's features that I love is that it allows us to keep a balanced news stream from opposite views on any world event or phenomenon 🙂.

Have you envisioned to share the video links in an Invidious format? I'm used to copy/paste to Invidious the alphanumeric ID that comes at the end of all YouThug links, but I guess that not everybody does that 🙂.

@DeeGLloyd @anderspuck All my friends and contacts in #russia tell me that in the Duma Putin's political party is the "moderate" one. Apart from some Western sympathetic members of the Parliament, almost all Putin's opponents, from deep nationalists to communists, are constantly criticizing Putin for his "soft hand" in the war, and lack of willingness to conquer more territory / shell civilian targets in Kiev, etc.

If it's true, what would be the point in triggering Putin's removal?

@joesticker @DeeGLloyd @anderspuck I follow media outlets from both sides, and try to harvest a couple of truth glimpses out of the war propaganda.

My current - and provisional - conclusion is that to achieve that, just like the Ukraine President mentioned a couple of weeks ago, the US & EU youths will have to die in Ukraine (thousands of Polish troops are already engaged). I would doubt many French or Greeks are ready to let their kids sacrifice that way.

I've long been accused of being something of a #Google fanboy. But actually, I just call 'em as I see 'em. Google has made enormous strides since its earliest days where I was highly critical of various of its practices. Now I view it as a world class example of best practices in privacy and security.

That said, I will remind everyone that evil can flourish both from active actions and omissions, particularly when evil surrounds us waiting for any weaknesses through which to strike.

I am concerned that in a difficult competitive and regulatory environment, Google is forgetting some aspects of this truth.

@lauren Do you mean that #Google has stopped implementing the PRISM / Five Eyes program, delivering access to all our personal communications to the three letter agencies?

And that they don't mine and offer anymore (they themselves stress that it's not sold, lol) to third parties all our personal data, including the WhatSpyApp chats that most users of that #Meta app store on the Google servers?

Has Google ceased fulfilling their corporative purpose?

Voices of the community weren't heard. He even doubled-down on it.

Is it fair to say that the Mastodon network is #decentralized as a product, but not as a process?
