Recently I heard a podcast where a Scientist was interviewed. He was super competent and informative. But it definitely wasn't fun listening. He simply wasn't a great speaker.

And I think that's a problem of nowadays society. I've heard a couple of times that the scientific "community" dislikes people who can both simplify AND talk properly to people.

But if you want to reach the masses, I think it's exactly those ppl who are essential to bring knowledge to the masses.

@hikingdude @elaterite I agree it takes a different skill set. I think Steve Jobs has a famous quote about how it is easy to make things complex, much harder to make them simple. People only have so much bandwidth to take in new information (at least I do) and digest it.

"It really boils down to this: that all life is interrelated. We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied into a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one destiny, affects all indirectly."
~ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929-1968), Christmas Eve sermon, 1967

I photographed this metasequoia in our yard yesterday while out with our dogs. The sun was rather high so I didn't plan for any photos. But when walking around, I went behind the tree and saw its canopy aglow and had to go in and grab my camera. The dogs, however, were annoyed with the interruption of play time.

Apple TV should just cancel “Invasion.” Season 1 was slow. Hoping S2 would be better, but also slow. I should have bailed early on but endured the torture. Needlessly drawn out and painful script. Did I mention it was slow? They can do good, complex sci-fi, Foundation has been great.

@alien Umm. Not so young. 😆 Not a TikTokker. Slow can also mean they don’t have enough meaningful content to fill an hour, let alone a season.

I consider myself pretty darn lucky to just have seen this Blackburnian warbler let alone walk away with a few decent images. I recently put modern tools to work to slightly improve a set of images from 2005 at Magee Marsh, Ohio for this . Originally photographed with a Nikon D2X that could use a little ISO noise cleanup and resolution boost.

I found watching much of Star Wars Rebels enriched the first couple episodes of Ashoka just like the Clone Wars for others.

Well, my site theme provider () just jumped on the AI bandwagon. No opt-out, typical tech-bro talk of “this is so cool” and “it will learn from your content.” Big red flags, little clarification in the TOS. Very tone deaf to everything going on with creatives right now. 😠 Seems like it is happening everywhere.

A real sh*tstorm has been happening over my theme provider’s implementation of AI. As expected, many liking, others protesting. I’ve been avoiding the update, but it is only a matter of time before there is a bug fix or compatibility issue that forces my hand. But I also expect the owner’s response will be a familiar one for the foreseeable future across all AI-crazed applications. Implement or be left behind.

Riverbed Rocks near my home in where I may find myself standing for hours with my head down looking for little compositions to explore.

Of technical interest, this is a stitched closeup from a 45mm tilt/shift lens from a 36MP D800 - resulting in an 81 MP final image size.
