What’s on the drawing board, europlus? Better storage and access for my (13) Apple ][‘s is what’s on the drawing board. Not exactly cheap, though – approaching AU$400. But just compare vs current setup! Considering alt construction types, but this is the general idea using drawer slides to bring machines out. Maybe I just have fixed shelves (will save about ⅓ of total cost and simplify construction). Hmm, looking at it, I can save a further ⅓ by routing channels for shelves instead of supports.

Is it only me that thinks being on the spectrum shouldn't reduce your moral culpability when thinking whether to upstart your teenage students?

Proofreading tip from my former life as a senior engineer then department head. Read your documents in a different form than you prepared them. If you print, print a copy and read before distribution, read it at the printer! If you are paperless, read the document after generating the pdf (or whatever). If all fails, put it away and re-read after lunch/the next day.

The different form helps you see stuff you missed in libre office/word/spreadsheet.

@zappy @rcriii it has taken me literally decades to feel comfortable self-proofing. I still usually step away for a while between writing and proofing. I rarely evade revisions, even if I felt satisfied when first writing material. While I infrequently find errors in material I have “finalised”, it does happen, and I know I will never completely avoid them.

Disclaimer: This toot does not apply to toots, where I too frequently find errors when frequenting past toots, to my frequent regret.

Hey, @ivory, @IceCubesApp and @MonaApp – free feature idea: a browser button on post compose screen so I can quickly search for a site to add the address to a post. Bonus points for selecting text and doing the fancy “link to highlighted” text thing. More often than not, when I realise I want to link to something, it’s in the middle of posting, so I have to switch out to Safari, find or go to what I’m looking for, copy the address, then come back to paste it. Think GIF button, but for websites.

Well, it’s been quite a few days, exacerbated by a certain new app/site creating lots of noise, and me stuffing something up on my 4.1.3 update, but I just reached #T00t! I’m hoping everything settles back down again…

I keep seeing people say they miss seeing news as they did on Twitter, especially breaking news. I’m still a three day timeline away from #T00t, and am often 12-24 hours away (as I often was on Twitter) ain’t nothing breaking about the news I’ve seen on any of my timelines over the last 3 years!
