I collect Apple ][ europluses and host WOzFest, single day gatherings of Apple ][ enthusiasts, five times a year.

I run the Applesauce Fluxes image bot here – it's amazing how we can find beauty in just about anything.

I am on the spectrum and learning how to manage my life better than I did when I didn't know I was.

I lean heavily left/progressive.

I love my past Bichoodles (Poochons) – Poppy, Lily (RIP) and Daisy (RIP) 💗

I wish people were more like dogs – or I just wish there were more dogs.

I don't put projects on the back burner. I put them under the floorboards, where the ever-louder beating of their hearts drives me slowly to madness.

    iOS users, it's here: CarPlay!
Update your app to the latest version to get CarPlay support. From your car, you'll have easy access to your devices, areas, and custom actions you can create in the app. Check out our garage door demo and read the blog here:
    https://www.home-assistant.io/blog/2024/01/29/companion-app-for-ios-20241-carplay/

A demonstration of Apple CarPlay support in Home Assistant. An action is used to open a garage door and turn on external lights, then the Areas tab is used to turn off the lights, and the Control tab is used to close the garage door again.

A quick note. If you liked system 6/7 and fuzzy light grey modern macOS annoys you, try going to preferences->accessibility->display, and turn on Increase Contrast. It took me half an hour to not find jarring and now I really dislike going back to the field-of-white-fog regular UI. Here it is on Monterey.

A screenshot of macOS Monterey's Display Accessibility preferences panel with Increase Contrast turned on, which gives buttons an actual outline and a little bit of a Macintosh System 6 or 7 clarity.

Does anyone know of a a DOS tool for determining which upper memory blocks are in use and what by? Like determining option ROMS, or ram mappings up there and such.

Trying to add a pcmcia network card to my MDT-9100 and it seems like all the UMBs are being used and EMM386 (besides breaking something) couldn't find a 64k region for EMS emulation.

I’m blocking VCF Actual (@admin) as they flippantly belittle the concept of art being made by human creators, and they choose to use ripped off art via AI regurgitators. If you support creators, I ask you to consider also blocking them.

Retro computing Mac people challenge: I’m looking for a game but I forgot its name. This would be from the age of beige PowerPC Macs.

Game was slightly inspired on Tron. It had a 3D board divided in squares, with bumps, floating on a black background. Players controlled spheres that would roll and leave a track (each square would be lit with the players color as they rolled over). The goal was forcing other players out of the board by bumping them or forcing them to roll over a track. 1/3

I am trying to sort out and identify missing records for a 20+ year military career. As you may imagine, there are a LOT of records, but it would be nice if I could plot things on a timeline and more quickly identify where the gaps are.

My first large plot in many months: a new Carousel, about 5 hours in, about 2 hours remaining. Cyan and yellow are down, magenta going down now, and finally black. Python generated and plotted on a vintage HP DraftPro DXL on 24”x36” watercolor paper.

See next post for completed plot!

A new CMYK Carousel plot, this time in yellow/-green chartreuse and blue denim all from just three 0.5mm pens (CMY— the K is just for outlines here). Lots of movement in this one too plus the strokes give some moiré which just seems to visually vibrate to me.

Thx for a boost and happy Friday!
