I just watched the Legally Blonde musical (on YouTube) and it was really fun! I can't really say whether I liked it or the movie more. It does some things better and some worse. I'd probably like it more had I not seen the movie.

Just a reminder to those who are new here to add alt text to your images to keep fedi accessible. Especially people who post pixel art. For some reason, many pixel artists don't put alt text in their posts and it makes me sad.

Let's change that, guys. It doesn't need to be detailed, something like "a pixel art drawing of x" is a good enough description.

@jcrabapple I recently switched from Megalodon to Moshidon. It adds a few nice features such as the ability to have replies automatically be set to unlisted and the ability to view the local timeline of other servers. Both have been very useful.

@endali personally, I'm happy with our limit. I rarely even reach it because I prefer to split long posts into a thread. I find long posts incredibly hard to read.

    Apparently, people are commissioning artists for sketches and using AI to generate full illustrations. So they're getting full illustrations for the price of a sketch.

    I wasn't sure what hashtags to give this post as I didn't want to use the wrong ones and attract AI bros. So I just didn't put any AI tags.

    Apparently it's World UFO Day, so I'm gonna talk about a pet peeve of mine.

    I hate the way people use the word UFO to automatically mean "alien spacecraft". All UFO means is that you can't identify what it is. It's an Unidentified Flying Object.

    If you're claiming that aliens are onboard, then you've identified it as an alien spacecraft and it stops being a UFO.

    Furthermore, it doesn't make sense to say you don't believe in UFOs. Again, a UFO is just something you haven't identified yet. Believing that there are things in the sky you can't identify is completely different than believing in aliens.

    Did a redesign of the OC I shared earlier. I changed her skin and eye color since I decided to make her Filipino. I changed the generic snake tattoo I had given her into a bakunawa, a serpent-like dragon from Filipino mythology.

    I also changed whatever footwear that was that I gave her into sneakers. I added in a lesbian flag tattoo (hopefully, I picked the right one) as well to make her unambiguously gay.

    I'm following an OC drawing challenge. Yesterday's prompt was to draw your OC in a casual outfit. Day 2 is in a formal outfit.

    I decided to draw her head in a profile view to differentiate from yesterday's piece. It's still something I need to work on, though.

    I've also decided to call her Sam.

    @teacherbuknoy There were times when I purposely hid my birthday from people just to avoid this. Even when you're not close, they still expect you to treat them.

    When my dad was working abroad, he told his co-workers he was gonna treat them because it was his birthday. They were confused and said they should be the ones treating him.

    @teacherbuknoy I think the promotion thing (or when you get your first job) might have to do with superstition. Like, sharing our blessings so you'd receive more. Or maybe to thank the people who helped you get to that point.

    The birthday thing, I really don't know where it comes from but it's definitely a Pinoy thing.

    Just finished reading Mermaid Saga by Rumiko Takahashi. I really liked it. However, it does feel unfinished since it just ends on a random chapter. It's been 20 years since the last volume was released so I doubt we'll be getting more chapters anytime soon.

    Still, it had some really interesting stories (and some hecking cool concepts) that made me interested in checking out more horror/supernatural manga. I'm thinking of reading Uzumaki by Junji Itou next.

    @Tearcell interesting. This is the only series from her that I've finished since her more famous ones are all pretty long and I don't really tend to go for those.

    I did Wolverine for yellow! It's probably been almost 10 years since I last drew him, but he used to be one of my favorite characters to draw.

    I also had to rotate the wheel a bit. I didn't think far ahead enough to draw Harley looking to the left, so now she didn't fit the composition I wanted. So instead of just flipping her (making her colors wrong), I just rotated the whole thing so she'd be in the middle.

    I did Toph for green! Unfortunately, I'm not entirely happy with how this one turned out. I did not know what I was doing with this pose 😅

    I didn't want to just copy an existing illustration, so I looked up some Chu Gar Southern Praying Mantis poses since I knew that's what her fighting style is based on. However, my reference photo was at a different angle.

    Anyway, I'll just leave it as is because I don't wanna work on it anymkre. I'll just cover her right hand with my next character 😅

    I did Alphonse Elric for cyan, and it turned out surprisingly well! I still hate drawing mechanical stuff, though. I can only imagine how much of a pain he must have been to animate in the anime.

    Cyan characters were pretty slim pickings, and I didn't want to just do Hatsune Miku like I've seen everybody do. So I had to really up the saturation on Alphonse to show that he actually is cyan.

    For blue, I didn't even think twice. It was only ever gonna be my boy Phoenix! I would have put Edgeworth in red, too, but I didn't want to have more than one character from the same IP. It kinda feels weird, though, since Phoenix is usually facing the other way when he does this pose.

    It's been a few days, but here's Raven for purple! Yet another one of my childhood crushes. Probably the character that awakened my love for goth girls. I'm not entirely sure I'm happy with how I depicted her magic, though.

    And finally, here's Sweetheart from Omori for Magenta! Unlike the other characters here, she doesn't really hold a special place in my heart, but I just thought she'd be a unique character that not a lot of people would think of for this challenge. It was also just cool to have someone with a different complexion (other than Raven or Harley who wears white makeup).

    I thought about Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time, who is actually a favorite of mine, but her art style would be too different from everyone else. I also considered Madoka, but I've already seen a ton of people do her for this color, and I wanted to do something different.

    There were a few ups and downs during this challenge, but I'm happy to end somewhat strongly as I'm really happy with how she turned out.

    Here's the final wheel! I didn't really change much from my previous post. I just made some teeny tiny adjustments. I thought about adding decorations and sprucing it up like I've seen other people do, but I'm not really good at that 😅

    Overall, I learned a lot from this challenge. I learned that I really need to practice anatomy and drawing faces from different angles 😅. I also still really suck at lighting.

    Still, I'm mostly happy with how it turned out. I'd love to do this challenge again in the future.
