The worst kind of open source user is the ones that say "I donated to an open source project in the past"

As if $10 a couple of years ago means my completely unrelated project has an open contract to develop or fix whatever the free support request wants

My dudes, open source is an ongoing expense, not a one time "donation". If you believe in this industry, invest properly and consistently. Lots of people do!

I watched #Atlas last night on #Netflix recommendation. i.e. J-Lo battles robots in a mech suit

I enjoyed it. Well, I enjoyed it while I also programmed on my second monitor. What I can say is that the plot is quite thin; the contrivances are quite contrived.

But what I saw was a more interesting film of childhood trauma and how it drives us as adults. The acting was critiqued on imdb, but I thought it was subtle, damaged, and the best part of the movie's themes.

The motivation was simple. "Why am I paying star market $6 for two frozen bananas dipped in ok #chocolate"

In the words of goodness gracious me: "I can make chocolate #banana at home!"

So I did. Buying a 👩‍🍳 block of decent semi sweet 🍫 and using up some ripe 🍌, I halved, sticked and 🥶 on a 🌭 bun pan. After dipped in melted 🍫 once cold.

The problem... They're really f-nom-nom-inally good. Way, way better than the store ones. And I have doomed myself to always know what is possible. 🥺🤯 #desert

I'm slowly making my way through a 8 thousand line python addition to #inkscape's #python library for parsing text and font elements in #svg properly. It's important and useful, but it's also a lot.

I'm not sure how to say "please run pylint over your code because my eyes hurt trying to read this". without sounding like an ungrateful jerk. 😅

I just fell down a phronix rabbid hole with some pretty nasty pieces of work claiming all the problems of the world are due to the existence of codes of conduct, outreachy, and people's basic humanity getting in the way of programming. In this case Gnome, but it didn't really matter to them what person or organisation had betrayed their view that racism would disappear if we'd let everyone be racist.

I think I need a bath now. So gross.

Just because someone wants, and may be able to steal your data, is no reason to give or sell it, or even condone the theft.

Even if, and especially if, it's for AI.

Some people just really annoy me with how circular their logic is, trying to convince themselves that data abuse is totally cool.

It's even more baffling because the Tokyo version of the game uses the union jack to signify the #English language.

Remember folks, #flags are bad at being #design icons for language selection as they have #political meanings.

My life has changed today.

Before I was but an ambivalent #linux desktop user of #flatpak, but now I am converted.

I have two operating systems because of all this Gtk4 compile business which is making my life more complicated than it needs to be.

But to be able to share the .var directory between the two year old PopOS and the alpha for #Ubuntu 24.04 and have the installed flatpaks Just-Work with all my saved data. It's the kind of not-have-to-think-about-it that's really convincing.

Attention #inkscape testers. While we wait for an actual alpha release, you can use the downloads which I've just fixed the links for here: https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.4.x/

I recommend using the AppImage if you're on #linux and the dmg/7z files should be fairly straightforward for other operating systems.

Oh, and thanks, user #testing is still the main way Inkscape finds bugs before releases while we work on building our test suites. ❤️
