Very work-in-progress, but I have started to document my smart home stuff on my website! This might end up turning into a whole subsection once I figure out how I actually want to organize it, but for now, it’s a dumping ground all on one page. πŸ˜…

@cassidy I had no idea about the Starling Home Hub and the ability to integrate the Nest Protects, those are some of the last devices I don't have in #HomeAssistant yet. I'll be trying this out soon! Thank You!

#UmbrelOS looks pretty, it's open source, but they do push #ai and #bitcoin on their site a lot. Wondering if this is any good compared to #TrueNAS

Yeah, I'd call this a problem somewhere. #nofiles open files of the mastodon user, which just runs mastodon.

@jan @michael was this the same issue you were seeing with your sidekiq errors?

If you bought my Filament Stackers on Printables please know that there are new models available, including a "medium", and "tall" version, all 3 of those without styling, AND 3 different heights of "Stackable Shims".

people should be receiving an email with details automatically. Printables doesn't give me the option to notify people who bought it of updates without manually messaging each of them. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

derek,
@derek@dssc.io avatar

@masukomi how much faster does the one without styling print compared to the original one? I'm thinking it should be quicker since most of the time on the first one was for external perimeters, at least on my printer.

Anyone else seeing issues with and after the latest HA 2024.5.0 release?

I've restarted everything and so far the issue is un-resolved. What I'm seeing is the Recordings switch is not reflecting the actual state of recording enabled or not. This is using the frigate-hass-integration. I see the recordings value toggle in MQTT, but it's just not updating in the device within the integration.

#3DPrinting where to sell a model?

My Filament Stackers are ready to go, but I've reached an impasse. Thangs.com wants me to set up ongoing plans that people subscribe to. MyMiniFactory wants me to pay like $25 a month.

Are there any 3D printing focused sites that would just let me sell a model for $6 and just take a cut of the sale with no monthly fees or buyer subscriptions?

[edit: I went with Cults 3D for now: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/home/vertically-stackable-3d-printed-filament-shelves ]

@masukomi I haven't tried it personally but what about @cults3d

I've bought a couple models from there

Android’s Find My Device network launch catapults Pebblebee’s tracker sales

@cliffwade I ordered a 4 pack of clips way back when they announced them, hopefully this means strong demand for the Google equivalent to the airtag. I'm looking forward to using them!

Trying to decide if I want to go with a PebbleeeΒΉ or ChipoloΒ² tracker if I want a tracker that works with Android’s imminent Find My Device network… they look pretty comparable, with one major difference:

Pebblebee is rechargable with a USB-C cable, Chipolo has a replacable CR2032 battery. πŸ€”

@cassidy I ordered the Peblebee back when it was announced, simply due too the rechargable nature and longer battery life if I recall correctly. I also ordered an Ace Card: https://www.acecards.co/ which looked promising.

I'm ready to finally hopefully get them after waiting a year...

When I haven't been driving back & forth over mountains to the nearest tractor store with the right part, & wrenching on the tractor, I've been working on a stackable filament holder.

I've run out of good places to keep my 32 rolls. :/ So I designed this. V1 had solid walls, but after printing it I discovered it used β…“ of a spool of filament & cost like $11 πŸ™€

V2 (with holes) uses ~230g of filament ($6). Both should expedite my finding the filament I want w/o reading.

derek,
@derek@dssc.io avatar

@masukomi I would definitely be interested. My current situation is stacking boxes of filament under my print desk, on the ground. Have you thought about a way to wall mount them, maybe screw holes in the back? I could see that being a nice floating shelf style collection!

What kind of temperatur and humidity sensors do you use for measuring outdoor and/or in the attic?

@selea I use the Aqara Temperature and Humidity sensor. They are devices and have relatively long battery life too.

reminder: when your slice looks like this (1), switch from Arachne to Classic slicing mode (in PrusaSlicer, it's called Perimeter generator) (2)

@stooovie I had this exact situation over the weekend and didn't think to switch to Classic, I bet that will solve my issue! Thank you!

derek,
@derek@dssc.io avatar

@stooovie That wasn't the issue apparently, I think the model is just bad in some way, or I'm splitting it up when it shouldn't be. Classic actually made it worse somehow... First pic is Arachne, second is Classic

Got this report for yesterday:

ThreadResolverWorker ArgumentError: wrong number of arguments (given 3, expected 2)

My hunch is that this is a Mastodon, rather than FediFetcher issue, but before I close it, I wanted to ask users of FediFetcher if you've seen this yourself?

https://github.com/nanos/FediFetcher/issues/67

derek,
@derek@dssc.io avatar

@michael I'm not seeing that error on my system either, I would have to agree this seems unrelated to FediFetcher.

I did find a bunch of file permissions errors, apparently when I restored last update I messed something up, time to fix that now... Also unrelated to FediFetcher πŸ˜‚

    If you already have ZigBee setup it's easy to use these, if not maybe look for something else.
