    Planning some sewing projects to replace disposable plastic bags for these final uses:

    • electronics
    • med/hygiene
    • portioned calories
    • sets of portioned calories
    • cold soak bag
    • pack liner

    I already have systems of bags I reuse so sizes are easy to spec. I’ll mostly use Dyneema remnants. It’s air/water tight(ish) and see thru. I’ll seam seal and add zippers to some and roll tops to others.

    @jds I bought some silicon bags to replace my plastic bag use and have good luck with them. They are quite robust, but have a weight penalty when compared to thin plastic bags

    @ai6yr It depends. If we could get someone like a Hyman Rickover to run a nuclear ships program like the Navy does with its reactors then it may be viable. The Navy has (at least from what we know) an good track record with its reactors. Add to that the small reactor revolution that is ongoing it may be part of a solution. If you look at the carbon footprint of the global shipping industry and say reduce that by 50% you have something
