Got Coder 33B running on my desktop's card with .

First off, I tested its ability to generate and understand code. Unfortunately, it falls into the same confusion of the smaller 6.7B model.

To be completely fair, thread safety and atomics are advanced topics.

Several humans I have interviewed for engineering positions would also have a lot of trouble answering these questions. I couldn't write this code on a whiteboard without looking at the Rust library docs.

The main problem here is that the model is making up poor excuses to justify Arc<AtomicUsize>, showing poor reasoning skills.

Larger models like #GPT4 should do better with my #Rust #coding questions (haven't tried yet).

Indeed, nails my Rust + thread safety questions:

Google's Gemini Pro performs even worse than the opensource models running on my modest Linux desktop:

Missing from the chat log, is the last response in the image below 🤦‍♂️

I don't have Gemini Advanced / Ultra. Is it a bit smarter than this?

Today I tried running Codestral, a 22B parameter LLM tuned for coding by Mistral AI.

With my Rust mock interview questions, it performed better than all other offline models I tried so far.

@penguin42 Check my last post on Codestral.

Hard to tell if it's better or worse than GPT-4o...

I haven't paid attention to Netcraft's Web Server Survey, which was once a battlefield between Linux and Microsoft (namely Apache httpd vs Microsoft IIS).

Nginx took the lead from Apache in 2019. However, for the past 3 years Nginx's market share has been on a steady decline, matched by the growth of Cloudflare (10%) and "Other" (25%). Is Amazon AWS lumped with it?

I looked at this while evaluating which webserver I should use for a personal website. I guess nginx is still a good choice nowadays?

What else would you recommend? I don't care about scalability and performance... just something that's modern, well maintained, easy to deploy and secure.

Solo i partiti italiani hanno il nome del leader nel simbolo
@politica

just upgraded the firmware of my USB-C dock... and didn't brick it!

Kudos to HP for joining !

codewiz,
@codewiz@mstdn.io avatar

It's too bad the Thunderbolt DisplayPort function is still broken after the upgrade...

I see this error in dmesg when the thunderbolt module loads:

thunderbolt 0000:00:0d.2: device links to tunneled native ports are missing!

Any idea? #linux #linuxkernel

I tried upgrading to the latest version of the #system76 #coreboot firmware, but didn't fix Thunderbird.

By the way, @system76, why aren't firmware upgrades available on #LVFS?

The system76-firmware tool isn't even packaged for Fedora, so I had to build it from sources to find that my Lemur Pro was missing the 2024-02-20 update.

Castagnaccio Is a traditional Tuscan dessert made with chestnut flour pine seeds, raisins, water, and... no sugar!

My aunt's version also has rosemary. It's 100% #vegan 😋

codewiz,
@codewiz@mstdn.io avatar

Here you go, directly from my aunt:

Farina di castagne 300gr.
Un pizzico di sale.
Acqua fredda circa 700cl.

English translation courtesy of #ChatGPT4:

Chestnut flour 300g. A pinch of salt. About 700ml cold water.

Grease a round or rectangular pan with olive oil (30cm diameter). Pour in the quite liquid mix, add pine nuts and raisins, drizzle with a bit of oil (not too much).

Bake at 180°C for 50 mins. Should form a slight crust on top. Best served warm.

@tagomago @jens What would happen if you put chestnuts in a good coffee grinder at the finest setting?

Zooming towards Florence at 297 km/h!

The Shinkansen beats the Italian ETR 500 by peaking at 320 km/h on some sections of the Tōhoku line.

Both train technologies could achieve 360 km/h with future track upgrades.
