The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has ruled that a Polish surveillance law violates the European Convention on Human Rights.

The ECHR ruled that Poland's secret surveillance program violated the personal privacy of its targets and did not provide an avenue of appeal.

The court also found the program did not undergo reviews by an independent body and was subject to political influence.

Ich würde mich gerne ein bisschen mit dem Thema Balkonsolar befassen. Auf was muss ich vor einem Kauf unbedingt achten (In Block auf die Hardware)?

Ab liebsten ist mir ein System, was sich ins Smarthome (Homeassistant) einbinden lässt und sich nicht spontan selbst entzündet.

Auch gerne ohne US- oder China-Cloud.

@techducks wie vertrauenswürdig sind solche smarten Steckdosen? Die Firmware wird sicher nie erneuert um Sicherheitslöcher zu stopfen und wenn man Namen wie TP-Link 🤮 Tapo liest gibt es bestimmt einige. Zudem die Apps von denen nach Hause telefonieren, Standortfreigabe verlangen (z.B. Tuya) und die Verbindungen auch sicher über deren Server laufen und somit eine weiter Angriffsfläche bieten. Ist es das Risiko wert? Oder gibt es smarte FOSS Steckdosen?

My job is to work toward bringing secure, decentralized, open source licensed communication tools with open governance to the masses with Matrix.

But if folks prefer XMPP or IRC, that's still a win in my book. I think Signal is a step in the right direction, too!

It's open vs. the world, and I'm looking forward to working together to challenge the status quo of surveillance capitalism and proprietary, centralized walled gardens.

@josh a big stumbling block imo is the exorbitant cost to use/host Matrix. Many cannot afford the average costs of between €5-10/month plus Bridge Costs offered by trustworthy, privacy-conscious providers or servers located in a jurisdiction with adequate protections, while currently they get it for free. If the costs would come down to something more manageable like €1.50 per user per month including Bridges, then you may reach a turning point. Without Bridges, it's of no interest imo.

@echo_pbreyer the EU has turned into a downright Circus under the current leadership - there is a blatant disregard for the law, human and constitutional rights. There is a blatant disregard for the will of the people, corruption and the manipulative tactics being engaged, an absolute disgrace. A wonderful moral compass for dictators and despots in other parts of the world.
