@Cassandra Janeway. Little Ms. 'Follow teh Rulez Kidz' until you get her pissed and then she dgaf. She'll ram the ship into a binary star system just to show you, which is, in my opinion, her best characteristic as a captain.
Sisko will throw a punch but the man's got too many moral hangups. He could win if Garak was in the audience and had a plan and had psychologically primed Sisko prior to the altercation. In that scenario, Janeway wouldn't have made it to the match, but Garak's very busy ^^
While taking Israel to the ICJ for genocide is a great publicity stunt, it's important to be realistic about the outcomes.
Israel will ignore any ICJ ruling ordering it to cease its attacks on the people of Gaza. The US will veto any UN Security Council resolution critical of Israel. Thus, there will be no material change in the conditions the people of Gaza are facing as a result of this case. Any "victory" will remain in the realm of public relations.
If anything, the ICJ case demonstrates the colonial nature of international law and why appeals to it are futile, and possibly counterproductive, distractions.
International solidarity and action reflective of the demands articulated by Palestinians themselves remains the most viable path forward during, and after, this catastrophic moment.
@susurros@palestine over the long term (which is useless to a person hiding from bombs or being rounded up and put in a cage today, for sure) it demonstrates, exactly as you say, the fact that the international order is rigged to produce certain outcomes. And the more that order violates its own supposed principles, the less credibility it will have moving forward. Rest assured, the young people, everywhere, get it. The last generation is playing with fire saying one thing and doing another.
