I have noticed that a lot of high follower Mastodon accounts in the Python community are opted out of search engine indexing. This includes: @ThePSF, @talkpython, @django, etc
Because of this I don't list them on fedidevs.com since I want to respect people's privacy settings.
But at least for the accounts listed above this feels like the wrong decision on my part and I'm thinking of loosening this requirement (I would still require accounts to be marked as discoverable).
@webology@anze3db@djangopackages@djangocon Thanks for mentioning us here! It was definitely an unintentional acceptance of default setting. And it makes perfect sense for individual accounts so we wouldn't advocate for it to be changed, but I hope that other organizational accounts see posts like this one.
So happy to see multiple paid roles for Python community developers being announced at #PyconUS this year. This was one of my dreams when I was on @ThePSF board, and continuing to see momentum on this is hugely important for the long term sustainability for the largest community-owned open source language in the world. 😍
