There are interesting machine learning developments, but it's remarkable how much hype goes to OpenAI, which produces nothing but toys. Their latest breakthrough is a way to replace graphic artists and video editors while producing lower quality results. Real big gain for humanity there.

was one of the best writers in the business, with an expertise at the human side of war and general conflict.

Alot of writers even now struggle with this, but back then it was nonexistant.
Him and Matsuno are two sides of the same coin on this, (Matsuno in scope of conflict, Murayama the individual cost).

he also had a real damn good grasp on worldbuilding, especially given how much real world culture is scattershot in each region, heh

Someone asked me what I think is going on with Trump's lawyers attacking the clerk.

Yesterday I said this:

"It's hard to tell what is going on with that. My best guess is that Trump's lawyers are fatigued, know they are losing, and are getting weird and paranoid."

Judge Engoron, who sees it all up close, said there is misogyny.

I just saw a picture of the clerk and I have revised my opinion.

The judge may be right . . .

Last night, Fox host Jesse Watters demonstrated how far-right people lead miserable and self-centered lives as he ranted at fathers for leaving work early to take their kids #Halloween trick-or-treating.

So many "family values" people do not value family. This shameless stooge for corporations also pretends he is a "populist" as well.

This is the advice right-wing men get for life though. No wonder they hate everyone.

    We've been seeing this Brain Drain/"WHAT AM I DOING?!?!?" play out for years in fits and starts.

    The caucuses get stupider, meaner, shadier, and the intentional obstruction becomes natural.
