This driverless Waymo came to a full stop in the bike lane ahead of us, even though there was plenty of space in the passenger loading zone a few feet away. I waited to see if the Waymo would ever pull into the loading zone, but I got tired of waiting after 5 minutes. #SanFrancisco #Waymo #Robotaxi

A photo taken showing the front of a Waymo that is currently parked in a bike lane. The Waymo is in the bike lane, but there is an empty space a few feet away from the Waymo that is painted with a white strip (indicating it is a 10 minutes passenger loading zone). The LCD screen on the top of the Waymo shows the letters "JC", which is the name of the passenger it is picking up.

I have been an avid watcher of #Waymo ride along YouTube content for a while now, and I am 100% not surprised that the NHTSA is launching their investigation. Through videos on JJRick’s and Kevin Chen’s YT channels (go check them out) the cars have made a few traffic violations and bend many rules of the road. The most glaring was seeing a Waymo vehicle make a “Pittsburgh left” in San Francisco, not yielding to the cars waiting or the pedestrian on the sidewalk with intent to cross. (1/2)

More #robotaxi fun. A #Waymo drove on the wrong side of the street for almost two blocks in Downtown SF with a passenger in the back seat. https://www.sfchronicle.com/sf/article/s-f-waymo-robotaxi-19416858.php?

Waymo vehicle crosses double yellow lines and drives down wrong side of street for, "nearly two blocks".

Love how Waymo attributes agency to the autonomous car.

"Waymo told the Chronicle in a statement that the robotaxi 'detected that there may be a risk of a person within that crowd who had fallen down, and decided to carefully initiate a passing maneuver when the opposing lane was clear to move around what could be an obstacle and a safety concern.'

"'After starting that maneuver, out of an abundance of caution around these vulnerable road users, and to avoid getting too close or cutting them off, the Waymo remained in the oncoming lane for longer than necessary before returning to its original lane of travel,' the company said. 'The safety of all road users is a top priority for Waymo, and we look forward to learning from this unique event.'"

I’m rarely ever in a car when someone else is driving and I’m not keyed up and second guessing everything they do.

Not so in the self-driving . I could easily take a nap in here, if the seats weren’t so damned uncomfortable.

As anarchists, we oppose the proliferation of this dystopian technology on our streets. Each car is a mobile 360-degree surveillance camera and Waymo has already turned over footage to the police. We have a unique opportunity to attack this industry in a critical time and place. In November, Waymo's competitor Cruise was forced to recall its entire fleet after one of its cars struck and dragged a pedestrian. A Waymo car recently hit a cyclist, too. The stock market bubble for self-driving cars has dropped 95% in the last several years and Waymo has lost $15-20 billion since it first started. Waymo is currently only operating its robotaxis in San Francisco and Phoenix but wants to expand to Los Angeles and Austin. Google Glass was successfully stopped due to the losers wearing them getting assaulted and robbed. Let's do the same thing to self-driving cars!
