This week we chat about Lab Zero's final game, an intriguing action-rpg that draws influence from fighting games, metroidvanias, and southeast Asian mythology, Indivisible!
How was your weekend? I love a rainy weekend in the Pacific Northwest corner of America, as it relieves my guilt of doing what I want to do ... staying inside. I read a little, wrote a little, hacked a little ... even played a classic #videogame from the 90s (Curse of Monkey Island on #ScummVM).
I also did a little math. Yeah, been thinking of taking the "Yes, and.." dice mechanics used for luck rolls in #rpg games (not sure who came up with it first), and fusing it with Mythic GM Emulator's Fate Chart, popular with the #solorpg crowd. Since I'm always playing with my notes written in #emacs on the screen, I hacked it in #lisp. Shared the details in case anyone wanted to do something similar in their favorite programming language.
....which were originally developed for the GameCube, were updated with many of the features that were first implemented in Corruption, such as a new control scheme based on the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. 🎮
Other changes include faster load times, updated textures, bloom lighting, and 16:9 widescreen support. 📺
The credits system from Corruption was incorporated into the first two games. 🏆
Going forward I think I'm going to have to ditch my #Videogame podcasts that don't feature at least one host with a kid.
Listening to twenty-somethings that have almost unlimited time and basically no responsibilities is just too unrepresentative of my own experience with life that I really struggle to relate or even enjoy their output.
I've really been enjoying the @crossplayblog podcast called #SpawnPoint, but I refuse to believe that's it for Gaming Parents?
Noon pacific / 3pm eastern! That means a couple of hours from now. We get to play Gabriel Knight and talk game publishing and production and all sort of video game shenanigans with @danielalbu ʕ•ᴥ•ʔノ☆
This week we're diving into the very earliest years of fighting games with the original - and far more obscure compared to its storied sequel - Street Fighter!
