It's highly unusual for there to be such a pronounced East/West divide in terms of predicted storm damage. That in itself should make you think that it may be wise to follow directions. #staysafe#Babet
I truly don't know if what I just had was a form of Covid - who does any more given the deliberate lack of reliable information - but I do know I felt shit enough to remember that much more fragile and potentially more susceptible folk are out there being denied the same reliable information by the same agencies who really don't care despite their protestations to the contrary. #MaskUp#StaySafe#CovidIsntOver
This hiking year has been a struggle. Covid left me breathless with a vastly reduced capacity for banging out the miles. I miss the hills and the solitude. More than I can say. #MaskUp#StaySafe
@augieray Coronavirus is the multipurpose weapon the flu isn't.
COVID is the Coronavirus- & human-contact-induced vascular disease, that can be kind of kept at bay with people's cooperation & sense of responsibility — vaccination, masks & close-contact-awareness.
Two of our regular visitors to our community project are currently in hospital with covid or post covid problems. One picked it up on a flight to visit relatives and is on oxygen in hospital in South Africa. The other almost certainly caught it when using public transport in London. He was very limp and feeble and couldn't keep food or drink down after initial symptoms passed and he is currently on dialysis as kidney function dropped to 2%. Infuriating that government are no longer even mentioning covid but it's absolutely rife and people aren't testing as the home test kits are no longer free. #Covid#StaySafe
I was supposed to grab a shower right after supper, when the phone rang, and the power company said emergency repair of two Poles power be restored and we're done, and just like that the Eastern Shore went black. It just came back on. Just before the weather gets nasty and we lose it again. It's raining heavily now, the start of the storm. At least I got my shower. And coffee brewing. It could go dark again anytime
Prior to catching Covid I was generally akin to a mountain goat on long hikes. Ascents were never a problem and the prospect of long miles ahead of me filled me with anticipation and the thrill of soon to be discovered new vistas. I'd bash along listening to my favourite tunes while drinking in the views with my eyes. Since Covid I struggle with the miles, the ascents are difficult and off-putting and my left ear is troublesome to the point of frustration with music and cinema. #MaskUp#StaySafe
From the AMA's What Doctors Wish Patients Knew About #COVID19 Reinfection:
"Each subsequent COVID infection will increase your risk of developing chronic health issues like diabetes, kidney disease, organ failure and even mental health problems.” Evidence “dispels the myth that repeated brushes with the virus are mild and you don’t have to worry about it.... it is akin to playing Russian roulette.”
