This posting is intended to function not only as a tutorial but, also, as a review and commentary on my ‘long-term’ use of spectrwm as my primary window manager (long-term, meaning at least one month of daily use).
i'm still tinkering with #spectrwm (on #debian 12) and i think i figured out the audio volume display in the #baraction script that i want to use.. ..now on to other aspects of this config.. ..is there an elegant way to add a system tray?
ok, i think i found a cleaner solution within ip a to check if (and which) network interface is connected..
..using grep state UP in the function seems to work (tested by physically unplugging/re-plugging the network cable)
i'm testing #spectrwm based on it having a simple plain text config.. ..for some reason when the policy kit agent window pops up (for apps that need root access), the pop-up always goes to the first workspace, not sure how to get it to pop-up on the workspace i am actively using.. ..the only other odd thing is that it doesn't have a system tray
