Today in 1911, Portia White was born.
She was the 1st Black Canadian singer to achieve international fame. In her career, she sang around the world. Her last performance was for Queen Elizabeth II in 1964.
She also taught singing to Lorne Greene & Robert Goulet.
That Old Spice commercial was great (#unicorns#singing#zombie#flowers) and much needed to cheer me up about the Witcher show losing Henry Cavill from the cast. His Warhammer 40k project seems to have plenty of potential, though.
(Yet 🙄) another of my little observations about the music I hear on #radiofreefedi ... It's so nice to hear all these singing voices that are their own, without the 'expected' and contrived stylings designed to hit targeted markets with product.
Genuine lyrics make a big difference to me too, in fact (as a wizened old goat) I find 'heartfelt' vocalising of a lyric that could be my groceries shopping list... unbearable. #singing#lyrics

This week the most listened to track on my al bum “No Laments for Pale Sunsets” seems to have been what I consider the worst track on there, it’s my least favourite, the one I don’t like, and incidentally the one I spent most time turning into an almost totally different track from it’s origins and still didn’t like the result all that much but as I’d spent so much time on it, it went into the album anyway

Earlier today I passed a child who looked about three years old. He was singing the ABC song loudly as he sat in a stroller and his grownup pushed him past me.
If I’d known him, I would have joined in. He was such a joyful little tyke.
