okay, in my attempt to do more in terms of get something out of Mastodon, i'm going to do more hashtagging and more posting about things and interacting with others who post about things.
i'm starting to learn #Emacs and working on #SelfHosting some things, like a Plex server, a Calibre server, and etc. Any other #SelfHosters have any recommendations? i'm also considering Mealie.
I gotta say since switching to FOSS finance tool, Actual Budget, I've been really happy with the experience. They've struck a nice balance between minimal, but powerful.
My experiments with @tailscale are quite promising.
Using the tsnet package I can create a tailscale "node" that has an IP, a domain name, and a TLS certificate. And it's reachable to users of the tailnet and to additional users I share the node with.
So if I were to integrate this into #Dropserver, a user would only need to set up a TS account and do some basic configuration there to have a fully accessible yet private Dropserver install. 💪
Static sites, RSS feed to email digest, reverse ssh tunnels (for exposing local socket with public domain name), blog engine, pastebin and couple more.
Are there already experiences with installation of Llama 3 on your own hardware (on premis or a virtual server) and the experiences with that ?
(compared to via azure, amazon, google cloud).
Contemplating this as an option. #AI#llama3#opensource#selfhosted
If you haven’t tried Immich in a while the object detection has jumped forward a long way in the last 6 months. Very impressive indeed!! #immich#selfhosting
As changes piled up and deploying them is more or less instant I've tagged version 0.12.0 of the Smederee! 😀 🎉
Most noteable changes are base work for organisations and fixes of broken source tarball downloads and incorrect reset password links. For more details see the changelog: https://smeder.ee/~jan0sch/smederee/files/CHANGELOG.md
I will probably need a larger VPS for my @cloudron instance shortly. Have been happy with Netcup and have no real plans to move elsewhere. But this is a good time to ask for suggestions.
I think I know why I like #SelfHosting so much. It’s very anticapitalistic in the sence that I get to own the services I host instead of just paying rent on them.
I'm launching a new sister project to the self-hosted apps directory I launched a few weeks ago and am giving the #fediverse a sneak peek because I need your help!
What are your favorite companion apps for the self-hosted services you deploy?
They must support software that can be self-hosted, be relatively up-to-date, and can be closed source.
Comment below or send me a DM with your suggestions. Thanks!
