@nulleric well, I just had a quick google search and I found #Adaptec documentation for #ASPI.
So I'm wondering if I could interface that using #OpenWatcom and a simple text UI...
I've never done low level #SCSI programming, but I should have an Adaptec card somewhere and I could rip out my #BlueSCSI out of my mac...
Should be an interesting little project,, but I don't know when I might find some time for that...
Anyone seen a free hardware design of a small PCB that adapts 50pin SCSI (host side) to 68 and 80pins (drive side), including termination of the upper 8 bits?
Without this termination, many drives run unreliable on older computers.
Yes, BlueSCSI, ZuluSCSI and RaSCSI exist. We do use these. But we have plenty of 80pin drives, and these are more appropriate for an SGI or HP 9000 – including the sound & feel (clickety-clack).
Possibly a dumb question: what's the difference between the #ZuluSCSI RP2040 and the #BlueSCSI V2?
As far as I can tell, they're almost identical. At the moment I'm using a mix of BlueSCSI-V2 where I need speed, and RaSCSI where I need to be able to load images over WiFi. I'm wondering if ZuluSCSI would offer any advantages over what I already have.
Edit: I'm aware there's drama between the projects - I'm not interested in that. Tell me about the feature set.
Writing some Integration tests for #BlueSCSI (using a @piscsi) to catch any changes in command handling behaviors, validation behavior to specs, be able to quickly test a device is working.
I got an untested SyQuest 88MB removable SCSI drive and some 88MB cartridges are coming soon. I had one of these in the past so this scratching a retro itch for me.
Anyone have modern experience with them? How likely is the drive to work? Do they always fail over time, have known issues, etc?
Adrian's Digital Basement checks out the new Initiator Mode feature of #BlueSCSI v2 - runs into some issues - but that's OK because we'll have fixes for them soon :) Thanks for taking the feature for a spin and providing all the feedback and logs
Does anyone know what the format of the "Iomega Specific" SCSI mode page (mode page 2F) is, or have any documentation on the commands and mode pages for Iomega drives?
I found this in the FWB HDT manual, but it doesn't give the mode page format.
I'm trying to fix some bugs in the spinup/down/standby timer handling in the RISC OS Zip drive driver...
Boosts appreciated. #retrocomputing#scsi#zipdrive
#retrocomputing#macintosh#68k#SCSI
The 9-track reel-to-reel drives have been stacked, I still want to build a proper shelf for them, but seeing as they weight like, 60+ Kg each it'll need to be robust:tm:
