Majority of #Reddit subs and their mods are cowards. Either going against majority votes or bootlicking a company for threatening to remove their asses while they aint even getting paid. just hella embaressing. Break things. fuck shit up. dont bow to greedy suits to keep your imaginary power cuz they will just take the next opportunity to remove u anyways just that you will have even less tools at your disposal.
Just a shame the alternatives mostly suck
I was far from devoting so much of my time to deleting accounts on #socialnetworks, but it seems that's how we live on the #internet these days. My latest victim was #reddit. Who will follow?
@OnceUponAGoblin I’m already off anything to do with Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp et al), Twitter naturally and now Reddit. Of these, Reddit is the only actual loss, but I’m hopeful about kbin as a good replacement, eventually.
You know #reddit#redditblackout#redditMigration#redditapi#RedditStrike this Spez guy is not so bad. Why not make a bot same as gandalfbot from r/lotrmemes. It's not like he will be ashamed of his words? His quotes like "The blackouts are not representative of the greater Reddit community" and "My favorite analogy for Reddit is that of a city" "Hi Snoos" "We have not seen any significant revenue impact so far and we will continue to monitor." Apollo threatened us, said they’ll “make it easy"
@astrelion
Well, we'll not know for sure. I can say it would have harmed the communities. For a lot of people, those subreddits are a major lifeline, and having them go dark (while important) was very hard and some didn't at all for compassionate reasons.
Okey dokey. So, I'm looking at viable #RedditAlternatives to replace what #Reddit was providing for me* & I'm currently at the initial information overload stage.
My current understanding is that Lemmy is associated with tankies & best avoided, but it's also the most developed option presently.
Kbin seems to me to be more of an upcoming star, but still lacks important features & an app.
What Reddit was providing for me can broadly be summed up as:
• #LGBTQIA+ #memes, particularly #trans memes.
• Safe spaces for #neurodivergent folks.
• Safe spaces for folks to ask questions about being trans & #HRT (esp. #DIYHRT) queries.
• Detailed info / experiences on #TransHealthcare.
• Allowing me to help others where I can with my experiences & knowledge.
@SleepyCatten Been on Raddle for a little bit, its pretty good but the site is a bit jank (its someones first programming in PHP project), open source and I don't believe it is getting federation unfortunately
they have a decent amount of trans related stuff now but not nearly as much as prior subreddits
I'm sure this will eventually change with time
