The interface is coming along. There's still a lot I want to do to improve this screen (filters, search, etc), but as a starting point with CRUD operations, I'm pleased with the results.
A Nerdy Note - There's a lot going on under the hood, here. This app is platform agnostic, so it can be changed to run as a mobile app instead - with complete extensibility of the interface from the server. I'll get into how all of that works someday.
I’ll be speaking at App.js Conf 2024 in May, in Kraków. Super excited to be back in Kraków as a speaker this time. See you there? https://appjs.co/#speakers
This is my second try to move to Mastodon or at least to try to convince myself to use it instead of X. Do you have any recommendations for whom I should follow? I'm interested in #webdev#frontend#javascript#react#vue#next#nuxt
I think I totally forgot what React Compiler and Offscreen API are. Majority of the rest has already been seen in Next.js, but I have to admit I never really understood what "transitions" are and how to use them (that said, I haven't coded with React for months). Appreciate the small note on web components support, at last!
It's really clear though that what once was a rather "simple" library (functions returning virtual dom; even the magic of hooks wasn't too hard to grok) has become something really really complex over time.
Anyone hiring software engineers? I'm a senior engineer with a passion for software quality and working on interesting problems. I'm mainly experienced with C#/.NET, Node, TypeScript, React.
I am unfortunately at the ends of my patience with my current role (hired for XYZ, three months in, moved to team working on ABC and I'm sat waiting for work).
Oh yeah, I'm doing it this week: I'm refactoring #Preact signals to a highly complex #React component.
The starting point is a component that currently takes in 26 props, and some of those props can be very complex.
And yes, that is somewhat poor original design considerations combined with 5 years of feature development on top of it. I already refactored lots of the internals 3 years ago for better functionality and performance.
So help me I did a react video... https://somegadgetguy.com/b/3yP
I'm a huge fan of the PetaPixel podcast, but I feel a lot of photography enthusiasts have a HUGE blindspot when it comes to mobile cameras. Following the release of the Galaxy S24, I had a lot of thoughts on THEIR thoughts about Samsung's new phone...
I've been in this industry long enough to see things constantly come & go. #React is no different - it'll be replaced by other frameworks soon & those will be hot for a bit. Then that one will be replaced & so on. Learn your basics! #HTML#CSS, plain#JS. Those are the only things that don't come & go & will take you through your entire career, regardless of what's cool right now. Will I still be coding #WordPress in 10 years? Who knows! But my knowledge of #PHP will carry me on.
If there was an #HTML element that changes it's content when users interact with other elements on the page, what name would it have?
PLEASE NOTE: I am not suggesting that this element needs to exist; I am only asking what it would be called. I'm building a CustomElement, I just want it to have a name that makes sense.
Vote and suggest others in replies. Please boost for reach!
Just published our React RSC framework, Waku v0.19.2! Fixed various issues and added Netlify support and AWS Lambda support (by aheissenberger!) There are still some known issues and we are working hard on them.
Dear Dev Mastodon, I'm torn between Solid.js and Svelte for a small SPA project. I've done a lot of React dev so Solid seems familiar but I quite like the apparent simplicity of Svelte. Any opinions, advice, gotchas I should be aware of?
@prophyt If you know #react, you might want to try #preact, a lightweight, low-drama version of react. Jason Miller (@developit) - the creator of Preact -- is also active on Mastodon.
