Full recording of NORRAG-TISS-Western University panel on 'Private Sector Approaches to Education'.

I speak about the equity issues in the Global South, and a tendency to view education as a technical enterprise. I argue education is a complex and political process and systems are value-laden, requiring a critical examination of supposed resource scarcity and the roles of public and private actors.

Not sure who needs to read this:

The further privatization of healthcare in Canada is not only shamefully transgressing the rights of Canadians as outlined in the Canada Health Act, it is outright STEALING the investment made by generations of Canadians whose taxes have paid into building the public healthcare system over the course of their lifetimes.

"We'll never touch the Greenbelt"

"We'd never privatize health care"

“We will never, ever sell the LCBO” said Premier Ford today.

No one will be surprised when they hear is planning to sell off the $2.5 billion a year liquor & wine business to his donors. 🙄

Reminder: LCBO employees were among the public service workers impacted by Ford's unconstitutional wage Bill 124. Currently profits from LCBO stores help fund public services in .

gemelliz,

Why is destroying every source of revenue and profit in the province of ??

An empty public purse = a government that can 'cry poor' and offer fewer services for your tax dollar. Then corporate interests step in and profit from what should be public services.

In the UK the Tories are being paid by private healthcare interests to kill off (privatize) the NHS. Defunding is a privatization strategy.

It's what is happening. Just say it.

Hey kiwis, if you know a market fundamentalist who still thinks commercialising healthcare makes it more "efficient", please get them to read this;

"... PE-backed hospital chain Steward Health, a company that bought and looted hospitals up and down the country, starving them of everything from heart valves to prescription paper, ripping off suppliers, doctors and nurses, and callously exposing patients to deadly risk."

Era esfregar este estudo da Universidade de Oxford na cara dos mentecaptos acéfalos da Iniciativa Liberal:

#Healthcare #Hospitals #Privatization: "Key findings:

  • Increases in privatisation generally corresponded with worse quality of care, with no studies included in the review finding unequivocally positive effects on health outcomes.
  • Hospitals converting from public to private ownership status tended to make higher profits. This was mainly achieved by reducing staff levels and reducing the proportion of patients with limited health insurance coverage.
  • Privatisation generally corresponded with fewer cleaning staff employed per patient, and higher rates of patient infections.
  • In some studies, higher levels of hospital privatisation corresponded with higher rates of avoidable deaths.
  • However, in some cases (e.g. Croatia), privatisation led to some benefits for patient access, through more precise appointments and new means of care delivery, such as out-of-hours telephone calls."

Oh look, the Ontario government lied.

"Ontario is expected to pay Staples a total of $1.75 million in one-time costs to set up its nine ServiceOntario kiosks. It also says the stationery giant will receive a total of $8.29 million over three years to run ServiceOntario locations.

The business case compares that cost to a 2022 total of $3.66 million to run the nine locations set to be moved."
