Next Thursday at 6, it's @bikeloudpdx's monthly nerd night, join us for an easy ride to study locations from our Bike Crash Report infrastructure analysis project, several chances for volunteers to take a report home to work on. (Where are we starting? somewhere inner-ish, boost this for updates) #pdxBikes
This side street route on 6th off of Terwilliger (south of i5) is maybe a bit steeper at the bottom than going around the curve, but usually seems more pleasant than riding uphill with that car traffic in a painted gutter (which seems to be often neglected, littered with leaves and branches from all of the trees) with poor visibility. #pdxBikes
cracks me up that someone came up to the corker appreciation gathering to ask if anybody had chain lube and probably five people did 😆 #BikeTooter#pedalPalooza#pdxBikes
What would it take for cities to retrofit or supplement their #bike counters with #eBike detectors? The growth of #eBikes for #transportation trips should not be underestimated. Maybe an EMF or heat signature? How do the standard ones distinguish multiple bikes at once? #pdxBikes#bikeTooter
6pm tonight! Ride with @bikeloudpdx and see where our traffic dept and police have failed to report on and remedy crash factors in our #pdxBikes infrastructure
Follow the #KidicalMassPDX hashtag to stay tuned for more rides and also LMK if you're into doing the facebook group, emails, website, flyers, whatevers. Also some #BikeBus organizing coming at the SE KMpdx ride in August, with @bikeloudpdx. #pdxBikes
6pm Queer Creatures Ride, how gay are dolphins #pdxBikes? "Use your judgement about whether your youthful critters would be mortified or excited to hear about things like the astounding diversity of genitalia in the world." 😂 #pedalPalooza#Science#Queer, and also meeting at Ladd's Circle, at 6:30 is the #Corker Appreciation Ride! (is a ride?) Thank you corkers!
#independenceDay thought about #FreeRangeKids: Can we just put one of those chalk markers on every kid's #bike and give them an unlimited supply of chalk? Then your #transportation dept can follow them around with cones, and viola you have a complete and connected #bikewayNetwork. To get out of the #carSupremacy rut, start with at least one car-free day per month and give the kids bikes + lessons if they need them.
The #Portland Bureau of #Transportation (#PBOT) spends over $2M per DAY to watch cars turn our streets into gravel and re-apply yellow centerline paint. We can absolutely afford to stop doing that for a day and give kids #pdxBikes
#Portland#pdx has been breaking-in a fresh new #pdxTraffic commissioner (with no bureau director for 6 months...), and Mingus Mapps seems to still be focused on the stack of boondoggle carway projects #PBOT has put in front of him. Seems to think that the members of the Bike + Pedestrian Advisory Committees are here to lobby for more funding for the bureau of traffic to continue the status quo of maintaining the whole transportation system for #cars1stAlwaysOnly. Drivers feeling the $30M cut?
