Had to cut my run short today because I pulled a muscle in my right calf. It started to bother me at km 3 and just before km 8 I had to stop because of the pain. Hopefully some rest will fix it.
Do you know how long should I rest? I can move normally, though it's a bit painful
#parkrun morning.
Woken at 7:29 by one of the 3 year olds we have staying (that's a 2 hour lie in).
8:05 on the bus - trying to #green my parkrun.
Run was wet, windy and hard work but well worth it.
Now entertaining twins with exaggerated stories of my running and a day of arts and crafts. Wish me luck. #running
Back to Colchester Castle this morning. First time in a while I've done the same Parkrun two weeks in a row, but the sort of grey and wet day where it's best to get out and back as quick as possible. Good to catch up with a few friends while sheltering under the trees at the start too. #parkrun#running https://strava.app.link/drpFF2xR0Bb
Today was our 151st parkrun at Riemer park. I was tailwalker and I reached 2 milestones: 100 volunteering and 50 running/walking (since june 2019). This was my 132nd participation in a parkrun There were 66 participants including visitors from the UK and 5 very first timers.
Next week I will visit Westpark parkrun for their 200th parkrun!
I'm looking forward to my first time as a Run Director for #parkrun tomorrow morning. I'm part of the team at Wynyard Woodland 5k parkrun. #running#volunteering
Very pleased to dip under 30 mins at #parkrun today. This is more than 8 minutes slower than my PB, but as my #MultipleSclerosis has progressed, this is now some going. Felt okay too on a chilly day, although a lake swim (5.9 degrees) and sauna (85 degrees) left me incapable of anything but a 2 hour nap when I got home. Still, a good day.
Walking at #parkrun again today, but relatively brisk around Mersea Island and starting the day by the sea is always good. Not as apocalyptically muddy as some had feared, and then we had about a third of all the finishers at breakfast afterwards! https://strava.app.link/Cx0wlbIF8Fb
#ParkRun 51 done. Didn't have to take daughter to work this morning so Trish suggested we walk to/from the park. Lovely. But it's a 45 minute walk with a great big hill in the middle. Also found my DOMS was quite acute from Thursday nights Fartlek (teehee) training.
So although we've had a lovely and positive morning, struggled a bit with the actual run and had to stop a couple of times, which was a bit annoying. We've also done seventeen thousand steps before half 10 on a Saturday morning and I've promised little I'll go play tennis with her and am supposed to be doing the garden (CAN'T BE BOTHERED). So it's a very fitness-centric day.
Blah blah blah. Anyway - it's a beautiful morning. I've got a day of reconnecting with family and a party tonight with people who I quite like. Although there's always a quite eclectic mix of new people and last time I got stuck talking to a guy who was a bit of a nob - introduced himself as an 'angel investor' then insisted on showing me pictures of his pet squirrel and got upset when I pointed out squirrels aren't pets and what he'd actually done is kidnap a squirrel then started chanting "squirrel kidnapper" which I thought was extremely funny and he did not. But there's a few guys there who I love very dearly and haven't seen in a while, so even if the rest of the party is wall to wall nobs, I'll still be quite happy. Also there's karaoke which I've discovered is like catnip to me. No idea why. I can be quite shy and I can't sing. But for some reason I will wrestle a person to the ground to get the microphone off them so I can live out my dreams of being an international pop sensation. Go figure.
TLDR - happy weekend you beautiful bastards. I hope you're all better than marvellous. I bid you all the absolute best.
Hammer time. (sorry - I didn't know how to end this post)
May the fourth... day of running be with you! Updated my #May50K run while wearing a Mandalorian T-Shirt (as you do), with added #Parkrun fun and thanks to sponsors. Why not join them and sponsor me TODAY?
Not that my opinions matter but I need to have my say on #parkrun
I turn out for health reasons, self-esteem and mental health.
I love to see where I've come in my age category and I'm happy to be grouped with other people my age regardless.
The company of others with the same mind set is great. It's a lovely community.
If a person wants to get out on Saturday and exercise, this is a perfect place to be.
#Parkrun done, AND I hit 100km down for #TheMay50K... but I'm not done yet. Read the latest blog update as I sweat through the final week of fundraising for #MS and DONATE TODAY!!!
I hear that the Daily Heil is continuing to harass a trans athlete and use her image (without her permission) in regards to the news that #parkrun is stopping publishing fastest times in a table format. I'm waiting on permission to share her own words, but she has confirmed that she changed her gender marker from female to 'prefer not to say' in December, and when that did not remove the age category records in her name, wrote to parkrun and had them remove her. Yet still the media harasses her.
She, if course, should not have to hide her gender, but the abuse and harassment she has been subject to has been relentless. A shame on all of the bigots who have tried to use her running abilities (which were considerable pre-transition, and she is much slower now) to harass a minority community. During LGBTQ+ history month too. No doubt the bigots will continue to harass people just for participating, but everyone is welcome at #parkrun. All gender identities, all paces. Come along.
