In a better world #MiniDisc would be the standard swappable media format today and the latest generation of it could probably hold like 1TB each at least. It would be glorious.

Finally dug my #MiniDisc player out. Currently charging some batteries; gonna make some nice #VGM mixes... But more importantly, why have we abandoned physical media?? Just look at these. Look at what you could be storing your music on. 🤩

I've obtained a Limited Manufacture Licence for some iconic music tracks to be released as an album of #synthwave and #synthpop cover versions on #vinyl#cassette and #minidisc
Now I just need to find some interested artists to join me in this ridiculous endeavour.

I've wanted one of these for a long time, and I finally found one on eBay for a reasonable amount. It's an Onkyo Hi-MD deck. One of the few Hi-MD decks ever made. And it fits perfectly on top of my DENON shelf CD receiver. #minidisc#himd#hifi#vintage#audio

me, after reading that MDs record data by heating the disc to its curie temperature of 180°C using a laser and then manipulating the magnetic state of the material (a mixture of terbium, iron & cobalt): "huh, probably not"
Hey there, #CCCamp23 people! I have about 20 or so #MiniDiscs and would love to archive them (lossless) as FLACs. However, I only have a MiniDisc player with analog output, and would like to avoid a DAC→ADC round trip.
I’m sure one of you has a player with either a digital output, or some kind of device that can rip the discs faster than in real time? Would you mind bringing it to the Camp, and could I borrow it for a while? (I’m also open to paying for that, if you want.)
For me, a record, a tape or a disc is the physical reference from the artist I like so much in my collection. That's not the same to have a digital file or streaming, unless it's a #MiniDisc Nice article

An #CompactDisc / #MiniDisc player combo! I would love to have that way. Maybe a newer one possible due of some long-play compact discs (especially Japanese editions).
