I ordered things from two different places and the delivery people arrived at the same time. They then took turns checking each other out during the byplay of our respective transactions, flirted in my driveway for 10 minutes, and exchanged numbers.
A fair bit of train(s) rides this morning - to get to #Yuasa in #Wakayama
Will grab lunch first and then some walk around. Original plan was to spend a couple of days - perhaps in Shirahama but the cold wasn't too helpful for the beach or camping so just a day trip #Japan#Travel #DasInYuasa

'Grabbed' was such a poor choice of word for the fabulous lunch we had. Had seen (online) they shirasu-(whitebait)-don [over rice] besides sashimi and udon and other items so went it. All of us got the sashimi set and 2 of us opted for the shirasu add on (except raw rather than fried as on the 'set'). #Food#Japan#Travel#Wakayama
#lunch 2/3
The #sashimi was terrific - came with fresh grated wasabi root too and terrific soy sauce.
The raw shirasu (which we had had as nigiri in Tokyo some weeks ago) came in a plate and to be added over the rice in the set - and we were told there was fresh ginger to mix in to a bowl of soy and poured over (+ nori).
Everything here was super o-ishi - including the Oden pieces (daikon, chikuwa, tofu; in center). #Food#Japan#Wakayama#Yuasa
#Lunch#DasInYuasa 3/3
Why not? Got some #sake as well - Nihonshu please, and said yes when the lady asked if we wanted it hot. Came in lovely water bath tokkuris with the cups as lids (is there a name for this ? @YamaguchiSake )
Good sake too! (Meant to but forgot to ask brand)
Most terrific and satisfying lunch.
Plenty of tea as well and with sake was just over 6K¥ - spectacular
Truly ごちそうさまでした。 #Japan#Food#Travel#Wakayama#Yuasa
While deciding where to have #lunch after a 3-hour exam, I suddenly remembered that the university #cafeteria has a #buffet, and since the time is still within the hot meal period, I tried it out. The #food is good, nothing special. Since I pay for each entry ($14.89 for lunch), I opted to eat as much as reasonable (well, #BingeEating after exam is understandable...), but ultimately couldn't handle more than 2 main plates (pictured), 2 drinks (coffee & root beer) and a soup (chicken noodles)...
In downtown Los Angeles, 1993: There’s a simplicity here that I sometimes miss.
PS - A couple years ago I called the phone number but there was no answer. #losangeles#lunch#photography#BlackAndWhite
A batch of #sourdough bread launched just now. Don't think I can fit the baking part in this evening, so I'll probably pop it into the fridge to wait for tomorrow.
My friend laughed and asked why my lunches look better than his dinners.
At the start of the pandemic I splurged and bought a really nice collection of Japanese tableware.
It takes just as much effort to plate it up on these beautiful dishes from Japan as it would to throw them onto a regular plate and small dipping bowl. But gosh doesn't this tempt more?
Lunchtime. I'm late, it takes me 30 minutes to prepare salads, and I was posting stuff and started late.
In the summer, I make a different salad every day, in the city, but if we don't use up some romaine and baby spinach, it will spoil.
Usually in cooler weather, I make hot lunches. I build each different from the day before. You'll never hear a disappointed, "What? Salad again?", because tomorrow's won't have the same ingredients.
I was sitting at a table in a study space. I didn't really plan to have #lunch...
Three people joined later. One of them is a guy.
Guy takes out chili soup purchased from the cafe in the basement, opens it, made 1 swoop, sees there are chickpea... (Don't worry, he didn't eat anything)
Guy discusses with his friends whether to risk it (claiming he does have EpiPen with him) or otherwise dispose of the soup...
Me: "you know what, I'll buy your soup" gives $2 (60% off) as a token gesture
