LibriVox is such an amazing service! One of those rare "this is what the internet was made for"/"humanity at its best" services that there's not that many of.
But the fact that you can not sort the books by popularity kinda baffles my mind.
There's a big range of quality of sound and narration skills when you let anyone at all be an audiobook narrator. Seeing the most popular books could help you find a good one.
@forteller I've had that classic on my bucket list, looks like I'll get to knock out two items at once (librivox being the other). I had no idea they did their chapters in rss so you could play them in a podcast app, neat! Thanks!
Of possible interest, especially now for #BlackHistoryMonth. These are part of the #WPA recordings of former slaves (you know, back when the US Gov. did some seriously useful stuff).
This time I decided to draw a #sheep and use gradients despite not being very comfortable with them 🙈 The audiobook is "Catalogs to sleep by" a collection of texts aimed at helping you.. to #sleep! 💤
@forteller I read between the lines and it looks like you are trying to find public domain covers of audiobooks? There is the updated page on internet archive where you can find them by published date or popularity. Hope it helps :)
@avreference Thanks, but no, not exactly. Looking for PD/CC audiobooks with nice looking cover art. If someone has just made some nice cover art for All rights reserved books, then the license of that cover art doesn't matter for this case. :)
"SHANDYGAFF: a very refreshing drink, being a mixture of bitter ale or beer and ginger-beer, commonly drunk by the lower classes in England, and by strolling tinkers, low church parsons, newspaper men, journalists, and prizefighters."
@pvonhellermannn@Axomamma not strange - thanks for chiming in. I didn't know of the Ibadan news. Yes - not too much Naija or even Africa news or people I could find really.
The explosion was pretty bad. A friend of mine told me today that his family home is one of the houses completely destroyed; his father was luckily found and rescued. I did see the news briefly last week but when he told me felt bad that it hadn’t even fully registered, as it would have done on Twitter. Never mind! Will try and post more #Nigeria news myself
