I already pay for youtube. We all do. Humanity is destroyed by capitalism to enrich a few psychopaths and their wannabes. It's 2 years after the full scale invasion, and the aid for Ukraine is paused, and now you have the audacity to tell Ukraine to not attack russian #oil refineries because "think of the oil #prices 🥺"

When I was in my early 20’s, I hustled my ass off. I worked 2 jobs and a side hustle. I drank 8 cups of coffee a day and popped No Doz pills to work at night.
And then I burned the fuck out. And crashed hard.
And it wasn’t worth it.
There’s a lot of folks who will tell you: “grind to the point of exhaustion. Chase wealth and rest later. Make work your only religion.”
That advice is poison. It will leave you broken and hurt and tired and alone.
Watched Ponyo over the weekend with my son. (We of course made some ramen with lots of ham afterwards.) Something I was thinking about as we watched it this time, or something I noticed rather, is the way fatherhood is depicted, as a sort of containing or conserving the immensely powerful and generative forces of life.
It reminded me of, perhaps strangely, perhaps not, environmental conservation movements. So much energy is directed towards containing the terrifyingly fertile...
@nathanlovestrees I say it all the time... Would we not be wiser to see if we can help as many species of everything survive and relocate, as opposed to wasting time and effort on the futility that is Halting Migration?
I mean, seriously, we can't be bothered to stop destroying the planet for profit, , but government encourages us to pull up the plants that are forced to relocate because now they're not growing in the zones we say they're supposed to grow in?
I know it's not ideal, and I know that local species of insects and birds die off because they can't find the food they need in this region. But i'm not convinced that killing off the other species will save the ones we are trying to save. Life does its thing, whenever and wherever it can. If we would just stop killing everything with capitalism, life would recover. As long as we do #capitalism everything else is doomed. #Biodiversity needs us to focus our effort so we #KillCapitalism
I think one day humans will look back at this time as being when capitalism died.
We probably won't dramatically kill it, but instead we will adopt aspects of a better way, in what feels like a piecemeal, disorganized, almost hopeless, but-at-least-we-can-do-this-small-act, how-could-i-not-at-least-try-to-help
kind of way.
And one day we will see that it started with awareness of the need to do better by each other, and the desire to recognize our humanity despite capitalism's intentional dehumanizing of 'others'
I don't think it will be easy or without effort! I just think we don't realize the impact contained within every purchase and every ounce of labor provided.
Deny capitalism our support, in every way possible TODAY.

This year Goodreads has removed all children's books categories from their Goodreads Choice Awards, meaning no more #MG or #PB categories. Worse, Graphic Novel & Poetry, have also been eliminated.

It is a built-in mechanism by which those with power and wealth build and horde their wealth, wielding it against the rest of us like the weapon #capitalism is. #KillCapitalism because it is already killing us, and the rate of death is accelerating.
It's ok to stop supporting #capitalism any way you possibly can, without feeling compelled to take to the streets in protest. Not that taking to the streets in protest is bad; just that not everyone is going to feel able to do that. Everyone can take at least some steps to take away the power capitalism has over our entire society.
Just know that capitalism requires war, slavery, and ever-growing violence against the planet and all of its inhabitants. That's just what capitalism needs in order to continue to generate increasing profits year over year.
As long as we comply with capitalism, we continue to be complicit as it destroys us all.
So, reduce the harm by reducing contributions to capitalism. It's the only way we can possibly hope to end the slaughter.

@NikaShilobod The only meaningful step individuals can take to fight climate change is to #KillCapitalism. Kill capitalism, and you don't even need violence to do it. We kill capitalism every time we ride share with a neighbor instead of uber. Or work together to create a local food coop or create a shared work space, help each other fix things instead of replace them. If the idea of helping a neighbor without making a profit seems dangerous to you, imagine what it must do to the owner class.
Let's just stop doing capitalism to the degree we are able, and each day look for new ways to be able.
