Here's a video of Steve Jobs showcasing a new feature in iTunes... podcasts!
"You could try to sell podcasts but the whole phenomenon is so great - it's free. And I think what we're going to see is an advertising-supported model emerge, just like free radio."
Apparently the term 'podcast' is a portmanteau of 'iPod' and 'broadcasting'. Here, Steve picks the latest episode from the Adam Curry Podcast and is quick to hit the stop button. 😆
Speaking of podcasts, Poetry Unbound is a lovely relaxing listen. It's a gateway into poetry for those that haven't yet found an appreciation for it and an audio-booster for those that already enjoy poetry.
I feel like my music file collection is modest: 1,226 releases, 9,106 songs, 273 Gigs, would take 50+ days to play it all back to back.
Most of it's from Bandcamp, though a lot is older, from ripped CDs or buys from Apple over the years. I always download the music, protecting myself in case the music gets pulled off the service.
Most of my CDs haven't been ripped yet, though I mostly stopped buying them lotsa years ago.
Backups are another story. I have the files on two different drives, but otherwise there's no backup. I have a Time Machine drive which I haven't used in years. Bad me.
@stevenray I've still got a large collection of music files on a hard drive somewhere that I downloaded to use on my Classic iPod that died only a few years ago. Thought about buying one to replace it but with #Pandora (which is the music app that I use now, there really was no need to do that. 🤷♂️
This doesn't include my large collections of CDs & LPs that I still enjoy listening to on the mostly 1980's vintage audio gear that still works well.
“MT Hart Presents The Mortal Series” on #audiobook on #audible#itunes and more!
3 Books in 1! 15 HOURS OF HORROR!
What events in a life cause transformation? How great must it be to create an awakening? This is about one such vampyric awakening.

Merci.
LOL now I remember, Strawberry just crashed in the middle of playing a song. Not sure if the song is corrupted, encoded weirdly, or if there's some other issue at work.
@Taffer I love strawberry as the heir to Clementine but MY weird thing is it'll randomly lose all information on some of my saved playlists. I open them and they're just blank T_T
It’s 2024. I want to make a backup of my photos in original quality on an offline drive but #Apple really wants me to pay more iCloud subscription instead. #Itunes is an useless crap struggling to sync photos with my computer. DCIM on #iPhone is a slow, unstable and buggy mess that never works properly or crashes mid-transfer. So my only reasonable solution is to pay for an app that basically sets up a connection with their WebDav server companion app and be done with it. Fuck Apple.
I didn't realize that Apple was trying to kill iTunes on Windows; As they recently came out with several apps: Apple Music, Apple Devices, Apple TV+, and iCloud for Windows!
They carved iTunes like a turkey and are serving it's remains in a fancy, modern way. I already prefer the Apple Music UI over iTunes which felt so clumsy and antiquated.
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds From an IT support side, im glad the devices app is its own thing as thats all I need at work for managing and restoring my ipad fleet.
@severinggecko I always prefer a specific app for a job over an all in one because it's easier to use for it's intended purpose! There's no weird stuff happening because it has too many uses.
