Bg : I’m in the process of upgrading my internet, switching to full fibre rather then old broadband.
I’ve now got a spare old router which should run #openwrt (plusnet 270N), I’ll likely upgrade the ram chip as a side project and perhaps the rom as it’s technically fairly easy.
But the question is what to actually do with it, I’ve already got most of the projects you find on the internet, any off the wall ideas? I’ll have serial, 1/2
This 15yr old (?) clock radio has suddenly stopped doing the one thing we use it for – projecting the time onto a corner of the bedroom ceiling. It's just out of view, unless you're looking for it.
Of course, once it's gone, you go nuts all night looking for it.
So all the parts fit together and we were again able to see that gentle, dim, red glow of the time in the corner of the ceiling again these past few nights.
The regulator circuit seems happy, nothing getting warm to melt my 3Dprinted case. Seems like a success.
Weekend project to design a @Raspberry_Pi 5 Hat featuring a AMD/Xilinx Artix 50T FPGA. Programmed by the Pi over SPI and featuring a PCIe Gen2 x1. Should allow for some interesting experiments.
Design will be open source once tested. Assembly is planned via @jlcpcb - it needs a bit of tidyup before I press the button. The board is 4-layer for a bit of a cost optimised assembly.
I was sorting through old drives recently (as geeks do) and wondered if anyone has pulled out the insides of a few old SSDs and combined them into one franken-SSD drive by physically linking them with a new controller chip. #diy#hardwareHacking#storage#SSD#microElectronics
Bonne résolution de 2024: ne pas me focus sur seulement deux projets. Du coup ce soir on va démonter en live sur Twitch des consoles chinoises pas cher et voir ce qu'on peut en faire 😜 #hardwarehacking
Recommendations on replacing a MP2845 (Monolithic Power Systems power module)? #steamdeck has consistent intermittent freezing & lock up issues & the problems likely hardware 😞 out of warranty and @valvesoftware been less than helpful #hardwarehacking
I’m hoping to get this project in time for #DEFCON, I think it would be a great way to introduce myself with a QR code to my links as well as it plainly spelled out for the people who rightfully don’t trust QR codes.
Plus this has a RFID on it so I can have some other fun with it. Shame it doesn’t have NFC as well, that would have been amazing but maybe I can hack it in down the road. #opensource#eink#badge#cybersecurity#infosec#RFID#hardware#hardwarehacking
Just had a Monday morning electronics LOL. I have had this 4 port usb hub on my desk for a few weeks. I found it knocking around at work and thought it would be useful. Well plugged it in and none of the ports appeared to work. #thread#electronics#teardown#hardware#hardwarehacking#hardwarehacks
As my last approach did not yield any hints or tips, I try again: what hardware and software would one use to play around with the congress' phone network (speaking of #37c3). I remember people implementing things such as interactive games or answering machines and other nice hacky stuff (e.g. there was Matemeter). Any hints and links are very welcome. I am also a SIP noob. Would be nice if the hardware could be attached to a Raspberry Pi or if no other hardware was required. #hardwarehacking
On s'occupe du firmware custom de la Cricut Maker ce soir en live sur Twitch, à partir de 21h30 😅. Objectif: corriger le code gérant le chargement du tapis et peut-être entamer le fork de l'extension Inkscape ! #livecoding#hardwarehacking
I am now finally able to power my TS100 soldering iron that I got for Christmas 2021(!). Didn't have a power supply with suitable voltage and plug. Recycled am off Lenovo notebook AC adaptor. It works. Now I've got a portable, more or less lightweight soldering solution. 👾🧑🏽💻🦸♂️
Après les aventures du bootloader, on reprend ce soir en live sur Twitch le portage de GRBL sur la Cricut Maker, à partir de 21h30 😊 ! Au menu: amélioration du "homing", calibration des moteurs et logiciel de pilotage. #livecoding#hardwarehacking
Name's Void_Setup, but feel free to call me whatever. I'm just another #tinkerer open to learning new things while building upon what I already know. :P
My main knacks include recent fascinations with #eeg tech [#neuroprosthetics] and #hardwarehacking, #raspberrypi tinkering, and recycling/modifying old hardware with miscellaneous parts I find [which I might have dumpster dove for]. Example: (WIP) Turning an old laptop display into a desktop monitor (shoutout to #DIYPerks)! Plus, MASSIVE #LINUX NERD!! My fav. distro is #voidlinux!
Anyone have an idea: "Maybe someone here can answer my question here. Forgive me for not knowing the correct terms.
I’m toying with modding a device or making a cyberdeck. But I want an interface/gui that’s closer to a pda or like the old school ascii(interface using characters). Does anything like that exist or is this another thing that only I want."
