It's #TilingTuesday - today some #polyhedra - here I tile a cube from 8 identical pieces - each one dodecahedron and three halved bilunabirotundas. There are holes in the model, but actually these shapes can tile space.
OK, I need someone to tell me if I'm doing something wrong #fediHelp#math.
The problem: compute an approx. signed distance function (#SDF) from a point to a surface defined as a function f(x, y) by finding a plane “pseudo-tangent” to the surface and then computing the distance between the point and the plane. The pseudo-tangent is computed sampling the surface around the point, and I think that there's some simplifications possible, but can someone double-check?
I was excited to present a new workshop for teachers tonight titled "The Geometry of Statistics"! I love that I am continually learning as a teacher, and I'm fortunate to have opportunities to share what I learn with other teachers.
Or more accurately, part of the new Music Library feature in the recently-released v2.2 update to Geometry Dash, which will also introduce an alternate music source to the home staple of Newgrounds, for both players and custom level makers to play and tinker with, respectively.
Now in English! Traditional games are important dynamics to strengthen the bond between human beings and their environment, improving the ties of brotherhood, coexistence, solidarity and reciprocity between members of the community.
Among the indigenous peoples of South America it also serves for the circulation of knowledge. For example, among the Yukpa of the Sierra de Perijá, the game of string is known as shakü 🕸
Other figures are more arithmetic, such as "the 15", which is an intricate shakü with 15 vertices. And so it is on the 18th, the 20th. (I have a photo in my files, I should upload it later)
It is a way of exercising geometry that young people are very excited about.
I recently drew this piece without a reference. Just over two years ago, I bought a book, “How to Render” by Scott Robertson. I read almost every word, studied all the images, and did many of the excercises. It’s a lot of 3D #geometry. Now I can see and draw shadows and light in a way I couldn’t before. One of the side effects of learning to draw is it teaches you to see things you might never have noticed otherwise. I suppose most education is like that. #drawing
It's #TilingTuesday! Here's a tiling around a seed, consisting of a hexagon with pentagons at each side. The overlapping 24-gons are not quite regular.
Imagine an icosahedron crafted entirely from dodecahedrons, no thin angles in sight! 🎲✨ Pushing the boundaries of geometry and symmetry. #MathArt#InnovativeDesign#Geometry
Building an icosahedron solely from regular pentagons is like solving a captivating puzzle – you have to experience the challenge and symmetry firsthand to truly appreciate its geometric beauty! 🔷🧩 #Geometry#PuzzleChallenge#Hedron
⚠️NEW SHAPE ALERT⚠️
"Mixed nuts" tiling, made from regular 15/10/3gons(yes, ðose fit exactly around a vertex), rhombs, & some 12/6gons ðat alternate 2 angles(ðey could also be replaced by clusters of ðe oðer shapes)
