Happy May Day to everyone! If you're entering more Spring or more Winter, hoping you enjoy all the lovely moments! I am waiting on flowers to bloom. My favorite time of year. Well, I love them all, but something about all this new growth, rebirth, songs of Life! Sitting outside, the return of birds, and so much more. :)
You can also click on the peony collection to see the others that I have listed. Thank you for your consideration of helping to support independent artists like myself and so many others on Mastodon.
It seems it's that time of year when I can stop struggling to identify tiny white-flowered weeds in cracks in the pavement and can turn my attention to struggling to identify the many relatives of the dandelion. This is my first of the year, in #Buckinghamshire; I think it's Common Cat's-ear but I'm always open to correction on these things. They all look very much alike...#WildflowerHour#botany#plants#flowers#wildflowers#plantscience#photography
#Sherbrooke has an active campaign for the past couple of years to encourage citizens NOT to mow their lawns, to keep dandelions available for bees and other pollinators. Dandelions are one of the first food sources for bees after waking up from a long winter. It’s essential for their survival until other flowers are available.
#Euphorbia characias ssp wulfenii, Wulfen's #Spurge. This grows all over Vancouver - it's drought tolerant, evergreen, and rugged. The flowers smell like rotting meat to attract flies, as here.
Alt: 3 views of the flower clusters, large groups of dramatic yellow-green against cool blue-green foliage. Each floret has three tiny buds that open, sequentially, into acid-yellow flowers.
Cosmos Flower - can never pick a favorite flower :) Because I love all of them! This one is a high contrast B&W grown in my garden. Delicate petals and the beauty of nature, I don't believe we can live without them...
