@ProPublica Considering the "markups" on care, doctors are concerned about #fees they will undoubtedly pass on?
Since it is next to impossible for a consumer to get a cost on medical care these fess can easily be hidden.
I spent two days trying to get costs on my next appointment. It was like the old Abbott and Costello "who's on first" comedy bit. I was stunned by the pre-insurance costs.
I was watching stuff on the CBC Gem app over the weekend and this forced me to watch ads. Like TV-style ads. This is something I haven't seen in probably years. Painful.
CDIC has been advertising that we shouldn't worry about American banking drama spilling over here because Canada has deposit insurance.
Deposit insurance only covers up to a max of $100k. This includes your investments. If scat ever hit the fan, I hope you weren't planning on retiring on those RRSPs.
@zazzoo ... like not being able to send a wire transfer or order cheques or whatnot via online banking -- you have to contact someone at the credit union, and then they have to figure out which one person in the organization knows how to do that.
So they're friendly and helpful, but sometimes it'll take a few days to get something done that I know I could do myself in seconds through online banking if I was still with one of the big banks.
Oh ya, the #fees are way lower than the banks, too.
