This cosmic coincidence is truly fascinating: the Sun is about 400 times wider than the Moon, but it’s also 400 times farther away from Earth. This perfect balance makes them appear almost the same size in our sky, allowing the Moon to occasionally cover the Sun completely during a solar eclipse.
It’s #NationalMushroomDay October 15! 🍄 #Mushrooms and #fungi are crucial parts of ecosystems. Neither plant nor animal, they occupy a special realm all their own.
In terms of PhD-ing, this is kind of like the pregame. I passed my comprehensive exams last year & will officially defend my dissertation & finish this Fall. So here goes...
@Sheril I wish you all the best Sheril. #Fascinating proposal, and dare I say very bold. Dare I ask what your focus will be on? The broad concept of American legislative processes and motivations is quite complex. How do you propose to quantify or qualify something that appears quite reactionary, quirky, and prone to whim/fancy? I would be interested in what you ultimately decide to narrow the topic down to. Not sure I’d (personally) want to peek down that rabbit hole
I saw some #conversation on here last night in which the OP posted about how angry they were when anyone except their friends replied to their post. I do think they meant in terms of being argumentative ... well, I did originally. They said it was #Mastodon#ettiquette (#Matoquette? #Mastettiquet?) to not reply unless you know the OP/commenter.
I haven't seen anyone else espousing this viewpoint, but if I have missed the point of this #SocialMedia outlet, I hope y'all will tell me. The conversation—I didn't dare weigh in!—was rather #spicy, if I'm honest. It was a whole "lock down your replies" and "blocked" and "but the new kids don't know" and "well, they should!" thing. In #Spock's words, ”#Fascinating.”
