#COP28#Dubai#FossilFuels#ClimateChange: "The deal said countries recognised “the need for deep, rapid and sustained reductions in greenhouse gas emissions in line with 1.5C pathways”, and called for a tripling of global renewable energy capacity by 2030. It repeated language agreed at previous summits calling on nations to accelerate efforts “towards the phase-down of unabated coal power”.
It also called for the development of a list of “zero- and low-emission technologies” including “renewables, nuclear, abatement and removal technologies such as carbon capture and utilisation and storage, particularly in hard-to-abate sectors, and low-carbon hydrogen production”.

It's actually genius in it's subversion, inverting the popular meme of happy kids playing in a summer heatwave (accelerated by #ClimateChange) to one of happy kids burning a tonne of carbon (indirectly of course) to play in the snow + thereby accelerate #ClimateCrisis

Their use to go to a global summit about climate is paradoxical.

Giving the COP to a petrostate who nominated the head of their state owned oil corp as COP president, (and their UN climate envoy) really is the biggest "fuck you" ironic gesture to the world since Kissinger was given a Nobel peace prize.
