Posting this for a friend - any idea what this is? Taken in Poland (Wroclaw) at 1am last night, and it's about the size of a guitar pick. I thought it looked like a bit like a potato beetle, but this doesn't seem quite right.
A small Leaf Beetle, genus Trichochrysea, spotted at Chestnut Nature Park, Singapore, on 15 March 2023. This beetle is shiny, and covered in a layer of hairs.
An unusual looking Longhorn Beetle, genus Gnoma, spotted at Chestnut Nature Park, Singapore, on 15 March 2023. Its long neck gives it the appearance of a giraffe or sauropod dinosaur.
slowly starting to see bugs and friends* return to our garden! a green shield bug, buff-tailed bumblebee, zebra spider, and common cardinal beetle all spotted today!
Anyone have any idea what this is? I'm stumped. I haven't been this stumped by an insect for years. I'm pretty sure it's a beetle, from the elytra, but beyond that?
Location: El Yunque, Puerto Rico
Length: about 4mm
Weevils are funny. They're sometimes willing to pose, but when alarmed they roll and drop to the ground. I guess that's not a bad strategy for getting away from predators. Let gravity do all the work.
Pretty rove beetle found in Southern Germany (Possibly Ontholestes sp.) German
OC Malachius bipustulatus in southern Germany, really nice colours!
